19 Mistakes In The Despicable Me Trilogy That Many Fans May Have Missed

Even in great film and TV productions, we can occasionally find errors of all kinds and, amazingly, this is much more common than we imagine. Even though they are not staged by real actors, this also happens in the recording of famous animations. And, most of the time, this can even be overlooked because of the speed with which the scenes happen, but they didn’t escape our attentive eyes.

Right at the beginning of the plot, a boy named Justin was playing with a toy airplane. He ended up leaving his mother’s side and walking towards the pyramid. As he climbed a wooden ramp, he held the toy in his left hand. Then he ended up slipping, fell into the inflatable pyramid and went flying; at that moment he already appeared with the toy in his right hand.

After the boy flew and fell on top of his father, the inflatable pyramid began to deflate. With that, the tourists, who visited the place, stood and gaped, seeing the scene at least curious. When the pyramid is shown from afar, these people simply disappear and there is no mention that they were gone — nor would there be time for that to happen so quickly.

Gru needs money and for that, he goes to a bank to get a loan. Arriving there, he finds Mr Perkins, who was talking while holding an apple in his left hand. They talk and when the banker gets closer to Gru, the apple suddenly appears in his right hand. Without showing at any time that he had changed the fruit’s hands.

When the girls return to the orphanage to take care of the cookie sales, they come close to Miss Hattie’s table. But right away, we see a black and yellow stripe that signals that they shouldn’t get too close to the girl. In the next scene, the banner no longer exists and the girls are very close to the director’s table.

By accident, Margo activated a machine that ended up disintegrating Agnes’ unicorn. The stuffed animal turned to dust. As the characters talk, the toy’s ashes disappear and then appear in front of the girls. A mistake in the sequence that happens very quickly between the change of focus.

Gru was hit by the villain Bratt and his brother Dru tried to help, for that, he opened a hole in the side of the machine, entered and ripped the wires that sent energy to it to work. Gru finally woke up and was sad because he thought he hadn’t been able to save his brother. But when Dru entered the machine, Gru was unconscious, there was no way for him to know that his brother was inside.

Three Minions are sent to the supermarket to find a new stuffed animal for Agnes. When they return home, they enter the girls’ room and the Minion who is disguised as a baby has nothing in his hands. In the next scene, he approaches Agnes and pulls out a brush adapted to look like a unicorn.

After a conversation with Gru, Dr. Nefario goes flying in a kind of motorized chair, before that there were dozens of Minions in the room. As soon as Dr. took off and climbed slowly, the yellow ones started to leave the place one by one, but in the next scene, we don’t see any Minion anymore. Since at the speed they were going, it would be impossible for all of them to have time to leave.

When Gru visited Lucy’s bakery, she ended up bumping into some cookies, they flew away and although she smashed several of them, she didn’t get dirty at all. A cupcake with frosting ended up hitting Gru, who had a face full of frosting. He tried to clean up the mess with the scarf, but in the next scene neither he nor the scarf has any stains from the purple candy.

The character Eduardo Pérez, El Macho, visited Lucy’s bakery and showed that he has a tattoo with the Mexican flag on his chest. When he appears later, in other scenes of the plot, shirtless or in a fighter’s outfit, the tattoo is no longer there, it simply disappeared.

On Agnes’ birthday, we can see several toys on the lawn, including a pink, purple and white dollhouse. In the following scenes, when Lucy visits Gru’s house and he goes for a walk with the dog, the little house just disappears.

When Gru and Lucy go to investigate Eduardo’s restaurant, they find a chicken. Gru and the chicken fight and end up breaking most of the tables and decorations in the place. However, despite Eduardo being close to the restaurant, he doesn’t seem to have heard the riot. He only realized something had happened when he opened the establishment.

In one part of the plot, a Minion was cleaning the house and answered the door, like most homes, this door opened into the room. Some time later, Gru sat outside on the stairs, sad that Lucy had left. It was raining, Agnes also came out bringing an umbrella and sat down to talk to her father, at that moment, the scene showed the same door opening to the outside.

A Minion was vacuuming the carpet in the house, until the doorbell rang and he went to answer it. He left the vacuum running on its own and the device kept moving to the left side of the screen. This Minion was kidnapped and then another Minion appeared. At that moment, the vacuum cleaner appeared again walking from right to left, following the same route as before.

The villain Bratt has super-strong gum that can hold people and things — he even lifts an entire ship — but in other scenes he looks quite fragile. An example is when he easily rips apart from Gru’s weight and when Lucy makes him a rope to save the three girls, towards the end of the film.

In the scene where the villain Bratt invades a ship to steal a precious stone, this vessel appears on the high seas. There is no mention of her being near the coast, only water appears where she is sailing. Shortly after, the same ship appears floating near a crowded beach, with the help of Bratt’s gum.

Bratt proceeds to destroy the city with a robot, which goes to the Hollywood sign and crushes most of the letters, leaving only HOL. All three letters are standing as he descends the mountain and continues to smash everything he sees in front of him. In another scene, the letter L appears lying on its side and leaning against the letter O. In the next scene, the L is standing again.

At the Anti-Villain League Headquarters, they show on a screen the supposed coordinates of where the ship that is being attacked by the villain Bratt would be. We researched where these data would be from and it’s not even in America, they indicate a place in the middle of the Asian continent, more precisely in China. The sea is quite far from the place and there are no beaches close by.

The villain Bratt left the three girls in a building while he broke the city, they are frightened by the situation and Agnes gives a scream that breaks the glass sign above them. However, despite that she shattered something glass that was a little far away, Margo’s glasses didn’t suffer any damage, even though they were next to each other.
