15 Important Details in the Book “It: The Thing” That Didn’t Make It In The Movie Because Of Censorship

In the film, the producers chose not to want to add some episodes of parental cruelty. Eddie Corcoran’s stepfather killed his younger stepson Dorsey with a hammer. Eddie then ran away, but unfortunately ran into Pennywise. At first, the clown pretended to be her younger brother, and after that he turned into the monster from the old movie “The Creature from the Black Lagoon” and murdered the boy.

In the book, Pennywise transforms into iconic monsters of the early 20th century, as at that time, during the “suckers” childhood, horror movies were all the rage. Ben, for example, is afraid of mummies, Mike of terrifying giant birds, and Richie has watched horror movies about werewolves. Other horror characters include sharks, Dracula and the Frankenstein monster. In the film, such gruesome characters don’t exist, but we have to admit: in the first encounter with the clown in his house, when Richie and his friends are attacked, the camera focuses on Pennywise’s hand, and, in a moment, we see the claws. Maybe this is just a coincidence, or maybe it’s a tribute to the original clown.
