15 Foods That Are Imitation Foods That You Probably Eat

It’s always good to try new products from the markets. When someone from our family or friend buys a certain food, we end up thinking that it is good for our health and that it comes from a good source. However, there are many products sold out there that are fake.

O incredible.club features a list of commonly used foods and reveals the truth about them. Check it out on your next trip to the supermarket!

1. Cheddar cheese

American (or cheddar) or ready-to-sandwich cheese seems to be a good choice, since it is not necessary to cut it into portions and this saves time. In fact, these square pieces of something that look like cheese cannot be called cheese. This product in the photo, Kraft Singles, for example, contains only 51% cheese. So, when you go to the supermarket, pay attention to the package to see if it has the magic words: “cheese flavor product”.

2. Artificial eggs

It hasn’t arrived in Brazil yet, but it’s already common in Asian countries, for example. What makes it attractive is its low price. These “eggs” are made from gelatin, artificial food coloring, water and a paraffin shell, powdered gypsum, calcium carbonate and other ingredients. The formulation of the gems allows them not to break when dropped.

3. Bananas are not so natural

There is no doubt that bananas are healthy fruits and contain many energy-giving nutrients. Even though there are many banana plantations in different countries, there are markets that sell artificial bananas – again, this is not the case in Brazil. They have some small black spots inside, which look like the seeds of a natural fruit, but they were not actually used in the production of the banana.

4. Box juices

5. Zero-calorie drinks are worse than soft drinks

You might think that a drink that contains zero calories will help improve your body’s health. But in reality, it only helps to gain a few pounds. If there are less than 5 calories in a drink, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration, the US government agency responsible for food control) allows it to legally be called a non-caloric drink, but the only drink that does not contain calories is water. The rest contain artificial sweeteners, which trick the brain into forcing you to consume more food to satisfy your appetite, leading to weight gain.

6. Does this cereal contain the advertised ingredients?

Who doesn’t like to save time by buying delicious ready-made and healthy food, especially for breakfast? Unfortunately, many of the cereals are real sugar bombs. This one in the photo, for example, the grapenuts it won’t help, because it doesn’t have any grapes or nuts. According to the Post Foods website, the cereal got its name because it uses maltose or “grape sugar” in its recipe and has a slightly nutty flavor.

7. Beware of the False Lamb

Today there is a risk of buying cold cuts made with a huge amount of chemical additives. Run away from them.

8. Natural energy cereal bars

9. Margarine as an alternative to butter

If you thought that margarine was a healthier alternative to butter, we have to say there’s no truth to that. To begin with, the real color of margarine varies from white to gray – the yellowness we see is the result of dyes. Furthermore, there is no overwhelming evidence that substituting margarine for butter reduces the chances of having a heart attack or developing heart disease. The components of margarine serve to increase the useful life of the product and can be harmful to health.

10. Plastic rice imitation

This rice is made from potatoes mixed with plastic and then sprinkled with natural rice powder. Fake rice can be very harmful to health as it is difficult to digest. After eating a few bowls of rice, you’ll feel like you ate a plastic bag. To distinguish fake from real rice, burn a grain: see if you smell burnt plastic or not. You can also try putting some rice in hot oil. Happily, there are no cases of this type of scam registered in Brazil🇧🇷

11. Does wasabi leave a bad taste and burning in the mouth?

If this happens, know that this is a counterfeit product. First, if it were authentic wasabi, sushi would cost a lot more and could be considered a luxury food, because this plant is one of the most difficult to grow. The product with which the sushi rolls are covered is made from a mixture of mustard, radish, food coloring and artificial flavors, which are made from a type of powder. Real wasabi leaves an herbal aftertaste, not a burning sensation in your mouth.

12. Champagne

The only Champagne you can drink without wasting your money comes from the Champagne region of France. It is the only region that has the so-called designation of origin, which means that a sparkling wine produced in that region and according to a certain production technique can be called Champagne. The rest are sparkling wines. But don’t worry: there are very high quality sparkling wines produced in different regions of the world, including Brazil, which has several award-winning labels. But drink in moderation 😉

13. Maple syrup

Canada’s typical drink, as with all masterpieces, maple syrup (maple, in English) has its cheap copies, which have nothing healthy in their ingredients. If you’re going to try it one day, check carefully what you’re buying and make sure it’s pure maple syrup. Maple flavored ones contain lots of sugar, fructose corn syrup, food coloring and artificial flavors. So when you’re in the market, next time go for the slightly more expensive but more natural maple syrup.

14. What do baby formulas actually contain?

Despite the fact that there are many baby milk formulas in stores, there are hardly any very significant differences between them. The best known brands are trusted and recommended by most doctors. According to the aforementioned Food and Administration (FDA), “ordinary cow’s milk is not recommended for babies up to 12 months of age”. Most countries have legislation similar to the US.

15. Will you still love Pringles after this?
