Most of us have a friend who is addicted to series: he knows which are the most popular, he has already watched all the episodes of that famous one and even manages to finish the release of the long-awaited season of another one in less than a weekend. Some people, on the other hand, are not so connected to series and prefer to read books or do any other activity. 1. The Morning Show

Considered one of the best series of 2019, The Morning Show features an impressive cast: Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell are in the lead roles. Each character’s story is already enough to hold your attention, but the plot of the story is also very clever and intriguing.

One of television’s most famous hosts is fired when a sexual abuse scandal comes to light. This caused a major crisis for the TV channel, which led to a series of disastrous events for the entire network. The series provides a behind-the-scenes look at a television show, including details of the modern media crisis and the #MeToo movement.

3. Dracula

Another highly anticipated series of 2020, which was released by Netflix and BBC One. The series was developed by Stephen Moffat and Mark Gatiss, known for their iconic works. Doctor Who and sherlock🇧🇷

This is a reinterpretation of the classic productions about Count Dracula. The series takes us back to 1897, when the legendary “leecher” was resurrected and began to terrorize Victorian Londoners, planning to take over the entire city. The series, however, surprised to be released with only 3 episodes, but this surprisingly did not affect the quality of the production.

4. Dickinson

AppleTV+’s new release is a reinterpretation of the biography of poet Emily Dickinson, played by Hailee Steinfeld. This is the story of the life journey of a brave young writer whose poems have no analogues and were not fully understood until a year after her death.

The series can be compared to the Broadway musical hamilton — 18th-century story sung almost entirely to a hip-hop beat. The characterization is period, but there is use of contemporary language and attitudes. In that “crossover” Paradoxically, the series tries to show the fantasy perspective of the protagonist who felt she was way ahead of her time.

The ideal series for lovers of crime and investigation, which can be compared with the successful productions of the genre The Killing — Beyond a Crime and The bridge🇧🇷 The Austro-German series stands out for its beautiful images and mysterious plot.

Two detectives are in charge of investigating and solving a series of homicides, which are characterized by pagan rituals. The main focus is on the relationship between the main characters: the cheerful and “pretty” Ellie Stoker on the one hand, who is solving her first police case, and the experienced and slovenly inspector Gedeon Winter, who represents the exact opposite. Despite not being such a popular series in Brazil, the project won the Goldene Camera 2019 as Best German Series 2019.

7. A Christmas Carol

3-episode miniseries, based on the 1843 book of the same name by Charles Dickens. The story of wealthy businessman Ebenezer Scrooge is all too familiar to anyone who has read the novel, but producers Ridley Scott, Tom Hardy and Stephen Knight managed to breathe new life into this story.

On the screens we see a Christmas story full of snow, but with a dark reality behind it. Scrooge is played by Guy Pierce and is the most anti-classical and distant character in the original production. In the series he is a very refined and very handsome sociopath. Main character development is certainly the most interesting focus of the series.

The series is based on the stories of real people, which were published in the column of New York Times🇧🇷 The series is an anthology, in which each episode tells a love story, which are not related to each other. Despite the short duration of each episode, the producers manage to talk about all the details of relationships (all types), and then some.

The presence of illustrious actors draws even more the attention of the spectators. Anne Hathaway, Olivia Cooke, Andrew Scott, Sofia Boutella, Dev Patel and Tina Fey, in addition to other very talented actors, are part of this production.

9. City on a Hill

This is a drama in the spirit of Martin Scorsese films. The series gradually tells the story of life in a typical American city of the 90s, which was filled with criminal gangs, police corruption, nepotism and racism, to which everyone turned a blind eye.

To change this situation, the new district attorney Decourcy Ward appears, who has the help of the dubious, but highly respected, FBI agent Jackie Rohr. Both characters represent different times: Ward is modern order, while Rohr is the chaos and indifference of the 90s. The series is an allusion to the so-called “Boston Miracle”, which was a successful initiative to prevent and combat youth violence in American cities in the 1990s.

10. Who are you, Alasca?

The film adaptation of John Green’s novel of the same name is presented in the form of a miniseries. In history, the dreamy teenager Miles “Pudge” is obsessed with the last words of famous personalities and his biggest goal is to leave his hometown to study at a boarding school, where his father had graduated. There he will meet new and true friends, in addition to having his first love – the extraordinary Alaska Yang.

Despite the seemingly huge number of clichés, the story is far from trivial. The series builds on its own plot and forces viewers to reflect on universal issues like friendship and love; life and death; loyalty and honor.

The new Apple TV+ series presents an alternate history of the world. The main characters of the series are NASA astronauts, who try to win the space race at any cost.

It all starts with the scene of a man landing on the Moon, but instead of Neil Armstrong, we follow Alexei Leonov, a Russian cosmonaut who dedicates that moment to his country. Yes, history tells what would have happened if the Russians had landed on the moon first. The series is not as dark as other anti-utopias, but on the contrary, it shows how continuous rivalry can transform the world we live in into a better place.

The plot tells the futuristic story of when humanity was hit by a virus that wiped out most of the population, and those that remained were blinded. Generations after the cataclysm, people regressed to the level of the Middle Ages, using only the remnants of existing technology.

Unexpectedly, rumors spread that in the family of the head of the tribe, Alkenny (Jason Momoa), children with sight were being born, which begins the plot. It is worth highlighting the stunning scenery displayed in the series, the quality of production and the interpretation of Jason Momoa.

The Apple TV+ detective series features Aaron Paul and Octavia Spencer in the lead roles. The plot tells the story of journalist Poppy Parnell, who became known for her key contribution to the investigation of a murder, which culminated in the arrest of her 17-year-old neighbor.

However, 19 years later, she is faced with new evidence about the case, which makes her wonder if she contributed to the arrest of an innocent man. The style is similar to that of American Crime Storyand the unfolding of the investigation is done through podcasts that are recorded by Poppy.

14. Servant

This is a psychological thriller from the creator of The sixth Sense and Closed body, Indian filmmaker M. Knight Shyamalan. The plot tells the story of a bizarre couple, who, to overcome the loss of their son, adopt a realistic doll as a form of therapy. The doll exhibits behaviors so realistic that they even have to hire a babysitter. Over time, the new toy “comes to life” and the characters have to deal with what will happen next.

The show’s quirk is brought on by Rupert Green — an adult Ron Weasley. He plays Wife Turner’s brother who, like her husband, hides a terrible secret.
