14 Cell Phones You Probably Didn’t Know About Design

The first cell phones were marketed in the 80s and, since then, technology has not stopped advancing. But, in addition to technology, one of the aspects that gained prominence was design. Manufacturers continued to develop new models, always looking for the perfect device. And they did it thinking about the most varied types of shapes, colors and sizes. When a new model was approved by the company’s product development areas, it was quickly put up for sale, which, little by little, made the market fill with novelties.

Today the awesome.club brings you 14 cell phones with designs very different from those we are used to. Let’s see if you’ve had any of them.

1. Haier P7

2. Samsung Bang & Olufsen Serenade

Samsung’s Bang & Olufsen Serenata model was considered one of the best speaker phones of its time; its design contained a stand, a memory of 4 GB and, of course, a speaker. The problem was writing down the number of the caller. Doing so was nearly impossible, as was texting.

3. Motorola Blackflip

The Motorola Blackflip had a touchscreen, a QWERTY keyboard, and a small touchpad on the back, which helped improve the system’s accessibility.

4. Siemens Xelibri 6

Also, an interesting function is being able to place a map on the back while the main screen is used normally.

6. Nokia 7600

7. Kyocera Echo Sprint

The Sprint Kyocera Echo is designed to have two functional displays; that is, they say it is the first smartphone double screen. They could be used in four ways: tablet mode, in which two screens formed only one image; optimized moto, where each screen showed something different; Simul-Task mode, where each screen showed a different application, and single-screen mode, where the screens were folded on top of each other.

13. Microsoft Kin

Kin was a line of smartphones from Microsoft designed for social networks. The most different thing about the device is the direct access to social networks, thanks to the company Danger inc. (creator of marketplaces for apps later popularized on Android and iOS). However, just six weeks after its release, its production was canceled because it did not show the expected sales results.

14. Samsung Juke

The Samsung Juke had the same features as a stick-style MP3 player of the time, but you only had to remove the top and the phone’s functions would appear. So it was a good way to combine the two devices: mobile and MP3.
