At the end of the post you will find a bonus with the first reactions of some users.

O awesome.club compiled some information you should know before the premiere.

1. The cast

2. The director

Tim Burton, who was hired to make Disney’s first movie in the format live action Alice in Wonderland, was tasked with directing this new version of Dumbo. Disney production director Sean Bailey commented that this elephant’s story was a big world. So Burton had the opportunity to use his imagination to bring the character, who can fly and is a mouse’s best friend, to the screen, in what seems like an ideal production for him.

3. The screenwriter

Ehren Kruger, who is known for his participation in the saga Transformers, was the screenwriter of this new version. A film full of imagination is expected, due to the team formed by Kruger and Burton.

4. The visual effects

5. The center of the story

The film Dumbo, of 1941, focused on the birth of an elephant with large ears, separated from its mother and criticized for its appearance. Realizing he could fly, he became the sensation of the show. In this new version, the story will focus on a former circus star, Holt Ferrier, who is looking for work. Circus owner Max Medici will entrust Holt and his children with caring for the newborn elephant. The film will show that family is appreciated and that dreams can fly.

6. They separate Dumbo from his mother

In the 1941 cartoon, Dumbo is separated from his mother when she defends him from teasing the little elephant for his ears. He gets angry and the circus owner asks to chain him and take him away. Dumbo goes to where Mrs. Mrs. Jumbo, her mother, and the scene is one of the most emotional in history. In the current 2019 version, you can also enjoy the hug between the two characters.

7. Your friend Timothy

Thanks to one of the trailers, we can see a restless mouse in a cage. Interestingly, he is dressed very similarly to the cartoon from the 1941 movie, in which Timothy the mouse was Dumbo’s best friend and who helped him overcome all odds since he was separated from his mother. This little rodent made him believe in himself and fly through the sky, just with the “magic” feather that the crows gave him.

8. The villain of the film will be V. A. Vandevere

9. The circus owner joins Vandevere

When Max Medici realizes Dumbo’s ability, he takes the opportunity to attract the attention of his audience. It can be expected that, as in the original film, the elephant will also be explored, as villain Vandevere’s goal is to convert the little one into the show’s attraction by making him work in a number with Colette Marchant. The owner and entrepreneur will team up to carry out the plan in their new adventure at Dreamland circus.

10. Clown makeup

In the original film, Dumbo is part of the clown show. The elephant’s job was to jump into a tub full of cream so the audience would laugh at him. Images from the new film showed the character with makeup very similar to the first version, in a scene where he trips over his ears.

11. The circus will be spectacular

Thanks to the images from the official trailers, it was possible to appreciate what the new circus where Dumbo will live will look like. In the 1941 film, the place presented was simple and with a style more characteristic of the old carnivals. The new film will feature a more colorful and very large circus.

12. Pink elephants

13. The film’s message

“We’re all family here, no matter how little you are,” Holt’s daughter tells Dumbo to welcome him into her new home. Perhaps, for many, the original version is crass and strong. However, while there weren’t many people playing a role in the story, the message Dumbo left is about overcoming fear and going through all odds, even if others have negative comments about you. In this new version, you can see in the first images that one of the main points that will touch the film will be the importance of family, as well as the love between mother and child and the value of friendship.
