The Gerry Weber brand emerged from the small company Hatex KG, which is engaged in the production of women’s clothing. Its founders were Gerhard Weber and Udo Hardik.

The enterprising young Weber came from a working-class family and at the time had specialized in the field of textile trading. Hatex KG was launched in 1973 and 13 years later, when sales reached DM 72.7 million, the company was renamed Gerry Weber.
