12 Objects That Are Usually Stored In The Bathroom And Should Be Far Away From There

Often, for convenience or custom, we leave in the bathroom some objects that we normally use there, but that should not be kept there. These products can be part of our daily hygiene routine or even be used very regularly, but that doesn’t mean that the bathroom is the best place to store them.

To avoid the damage that this environment can cause to our utensils, the awesome.club brings you a short list of items that should be stored elsewhere in the house.

1. Shavers

Usually blades or razors are made of steel to perform better and last longer. But, although it is normal to shave in the bathroom, it is not recommended to store them there because of the existing humidity, as well as frequent contact with water, which can cause these objects to oxidize and rust more quickly. This way, the blade will lose its edge, it will be more painful to shave and the result will not be as effective.

2. Towels

It is obvious that it is necessary to have towels in the bathroom, both when drying hands or face after washing them and when getting out of the shower after bathing, but it is not recommended to leave them permanently in that environment. This room in the house is a place where mold or mildew can normally develop due to humidity, so keeping bathrobes, robes or towels there can favor the accumulation of germs in these parts. That is, in addition to having something unhygienic and emanating a bad smell, it can also be harmful to your health.

3. Medicines

It is common for us to store medicines that we use on some kind of shelf, in a small cupboard or in a drawer in the bathroom, but this attitude is not the most correct one. Storing this type of product in the bathroom can make it deteriorate more easily and even spoil, due to the humidity and heat given off from both the shower and the sink. Medications lose effectiveness and even expire before established, thanks to these factors.

4. Jewelry and costume jewelry

Leaving jewelry in the bathroom or, even worse, near the sink or shower is a big mistake that could damage your favorite accessories. In this case, the metal of the jewelry (whether gold or silver) or costume jewelry will oxidize, losing its shine and beauty. Jewelry needs to be stored in a dry place, away from water and moisture.

5. Sunscreen

A common product present on shelves or in bathroom drawers is, without a doubt, sunscreen. This product, which is usually used seasonally, should not be kept in the bathroom, as humidity can cause it to lose its properties and effectiveness and can even be conducive to the proliferation of mold and fungus.

6. Perfumes

7. Manicure and nail polish tools

Again, humidity comes into play, as it is an element that harms and affects the properties of nail polish and can damage manicure or pedicure equipment. The constant temperature changes in the bathroom, caused by showering or just washing your face, can change the consistency of the enamel and cause fungus or mold to appear on our manicure tools.

8. Electrical appliances

In this case, we are not only talking about the deterioration that appliances can suffer from constant humidity, but also the danger involved in having this type of appliance close to a water source. To avoid accidents that could lead to serious injuries or even worse consequences, it’s best to choose another place to store these devices.

9. Cleaning products

There are several reasons why it is not recommended to store cleaning products in the bathroom or kitchen. Storing them in these places can leave them within reach of children and is therefore a risk; in addition, there is water in these two environments and, consequently, humidity and temperature changes can affect the properties of the product. We must look for a dry place, to which small children do not have access.

10. Makeup and brushes

11. Extra rolls of toilet paper

In the case of toilet paper, the risk is germs. The bathroom is a place where these microbes proliferate, so storing it next to the toilet, in particular, and in the bathroom, in general, can cause all these germs to permanently lodge in the toilet paper that will be used later.

12. Books and magazines

Some people usually read in the bathroom, but this place can cause the book or magazine in question to deteriorate, due to the humidity of the environment, in addition to the possibility of mold appearing between its pages. The bathroom is a space that, however disinfected it may be, has germs that will settle between books and magazines, so it’s best to store them on a shelf in the living room, office or on the nightstand next to the bed.

Which one or which of these objects do you usually have in the bathroom? What other items do you consider that should not be kept in this place?
