There are stories from celebrity families where children are inspired by the same career path taken by their parents. We, from awesome.clubwe decided to gather 12 cases in which children of celebrities decided to follow the same path as their parents and achieved fame, unexpected or not, with the model of effort and work present at home.
1. Ben Stiller
The popular actor, director and producer is the son of actors and comedians Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara. From a very young age, Ben showed his interest in the film industry, shooting Super 8 movies with his sister and friends. His father worked on the Seinfeld series (in which he played the father of the character George Costanza) and The King of Queen. They got a chance to shine together as father and son in Zoolander.
2. Kate del Castillo
The protagonist of A Rainha do Tráfico is the daughter of Verónica and Eric del Castillo (famous Mexican actor). Kate has been the protagonist of numerous Latin American soap operas and in 2007 she began her career in Hollywood in the lead role of the film Under the Same Moon and continued acting in other films and series. Her father recently said that he hopes to see Kate married with children before he dies and thinks she relegates her personal life to her professional one.
3. Maude Apatow
Maude, 24, is the daughter of actress Leslie Mann and film director Judd Apatow. She began her career at a very young age, participating in films directed by her father, such as Slightly Pregnant, Tá Rindo do Quê? and Welcome to 40 (in some of these films she acted alongside her mother and sister). Currently, she participates in Euphoria, giving life to Lexi, a character that has become a favorite of fans of the series.
4. Tracee Ellis Ross
The actress, model, comedian, producer and television presenter is the daughter of singer Diana Ross and music entrepreneur Robert Ellis Silberstein. Her career began as a model and her acting debut took place in 1996, when she played a role in the film Círculo das Vanidades. In her 40 years in Hollywood, she has worked in many films and series; since 2014 she leads the Black-ish series on Netflix, giving life to a role opposite to her in real life (in fiction she is a wife and mother of five children and in reality she is neither married nor a mother).
5. Simone Johnson
Born on August 17, 2001, her father is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The girl follows in her father’s footsteps in wrestling and is also a model for the company IMG, whose representatives are the ten highest paid in the world. She became the youngest person in history to sign with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and stated that she doesn’t want to fall into the trap of comparing herself to her father, but is aware of the legacy received.
6. Jessica Capshaw
She is the daughter of actress and producer Kate Capshaw, who married Steven Spielberg after divorcing Jessica’s father, Robert. The girl starred in many films; however, her most iconic characterization was on Grey’s Anatomy, when she portrayed Arizona Robbins. Other works by the young actress were in the series 13 Reasons Why and starring Kate Winslet, Mare de Easttown. Her parents are proud of both Sosie and their eldest son, Travis, and in an interview said they tried to teach the two through their example to be good, decent, compassionate and hardworking people.
8. Matilda “Tilly” Ramsay
This young woman is the daughter of chef Gordon Ramsay and is following in her father’s footsteps. She worked from a young age on television in Matilda and the Ramsay Bunch, showcasing her talent in the kitchen. She has also published a cookbook, participated in the celebrity dance show Strictly Come Dancing, and has over ten million followers on Tik Tok. While participating in the dance program, her father, via Instagram, week after week, showed his support and said how proud he was of her and her partner.
9. Mariska Hargitay
The actress and protagonist since 1999 of the famous series Law & Order is the daughter of actress Jayne Mansfield and Mickey Hargitay, elected Mr. Universe in 1955. She became so involved in her role as Detective Olivia Benson that she decided to open the Joyfull Hear foundation to help victims of abuse. Furthermore, she is close friends with Taylor Swift and was involved in the music video for the singer’s song Bad Blood.
10. Mamie Gummer
Mamie is the daughter of Meryl Streep and sculptor Don Gummer. At just 20 months old, she appeared in the film A Difícil Arte de Loving alongside her mother and has since starred in over 40 films and television series, such as The Good Wife and True Detective. In the 2015 film Ricki and the Flash: Back Home, she was also at her mother’s side and about this experience Mamie said: “I think that part of the process of growing up is seeing your parents as equals. And this movie made it easier.”
11. Marimar Vega
The Mexican film, theater and television actress is the daughter of actors Gonzalo Vega and Leonora Sisto. Her theatrical debut was at the age of 17 with her father in the play Don Juan Tenorio, playing the role of Dona Inês. In her career she acted in several soap operas, series and films. In response to criticism leveled at her for doing yoga and eating meat, she expressed, “We all have moments. Let’s treat others with love and respect and be more empathetic. It’s okay, accept each other, love each other and be patient.”
12. Billie Lourd
Billie is the daughter of Carrie Fisher, the iconic Princess Leia of the Star Wars saga, and the granddaughter of Debbie Reynolds, the protagonist of Singin’ in the Rain. Her acting debut was in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, in 2015. She participated in series such as Scream Queens and in three of the American Horror Story miniseries. In 2018, two years after Carrie’s death, Billie paid tribute to her in her networks and said that she decided to sing, that it was something they loved to do together and quoted a phrase that her mother once told her: “Take your broken heart and turn it into art”.
