10+ Signs You’re Intolerant to Some Common Foods

1. Dairy products

Even though it is impossible to completely eliminate them from the diet, avoiding foods rich in salicylates such as spices, coffee, raisins and oranges can help alleviate the symptoms of salicylates intolerance.

4. Amines

The chemical called amine is formed naturally during food storage and fermentation. There are many types of amines and they can be found in citrus fruits, chocolate, smoked fish, cured meat, cured or aged cheeses, vinegar, beer and wine.

The list of FODMAPs ranges from corn syrup and fruit syrup, used as sweeteners in industrial processes, certain dairy products such as ricotta, yogurt and even ice cream, beans, lentils and some fruits such as apricots, peaches, cherries and avocados.

6. Gluten

Gluten intolerance is more common than we probably think. One study estimates that gluten intolerance affects between 0.5 and 13% of the entire world population. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, rye and triticale.

If that’s the case for you, avoid bread, cereal, beer, crackers, condiments and sauces (especially soy sauce). And, of course, check the food packaging for the inscription ‘contains gluten’. 7. Fructose

Fructose is a type of sugar found in fruits, vegetables and honey. For some people, fructose is not absorbed properly, which causes some discomfort.
