11 ways to eliminate or reduce the fat accumulated in the breeches

Considered uncomfortable by most people, culote is nothing more than a popular term to characterize the accumulation of fat in the region that comprises the hip, lateral aspect of the thigh and lateral portion of the glutes.

Plastic surgeon Francisco Alionis Neto explains that the accumulation of fat in this region has important causes that are usually associated with each other. The main ones are: hormonal, genetic, nutritional and metabolic.

Hormonal: “It is proven that the fat cells in this region are more sensitive to female hormones. That’s why the breeches are more common in women after puberty”, highlights Francisco Neto.

Genetics: “the concentration of fat cells in the different regions of the body has genetic characteristics, varying from person to person”, says the surgeon.

Nutritional: the more balanced the diet, with adequate fluid intake and low intake of fats and compound carbohydrates, the lower the accumulation of body fat and, consequently, in the region of the culottes, as highlighted by Francisco Neto.

Metabolic: “An adequate metabolism, associated with aerobic physical activities and weight training to strengthen the muscles in the region, is extremely important to reduce the concentration of fat and improve body contour”, highlights the surgeon.

It is a fact that no one can “eliminate the culote” overnight, but significantly reducing the accumulation of fat in this region is possible. Below the professionals give fundamental tips for this.

11 resources to reduce buttock fat

Proper nutrition, exercises, clinical treatments… Meet your main allies when it comes to reducing the concentration of fat in this region of the body.

1. Healthy eating

Eduardo Sucupira, plastic surgeon at Clínica Essendi, in Rio de Janeiro, explains that it is recommended to consume little fat, lots of fruit and vegetables. “People genetically prone to locating fat in this area especially should drink a lot of water, between two and three liters a day,” he points out.

The ideal is to count, if possible, with the guidance of a nutritionist, who will give you a diet suitable for your needs, aiming not only for aesthetic issues, but for your health as a whole.

2. Aerobic activities + specific exercises

Professor Bruna Capelli, from Academia Ecofit, explains that exercises with aerobic characteristics are important, as they will act predominantly using fat as a source of energy. “But it is worth mentioning that, when we reduce body fat, we will lose it in the body as a whole, and not just in that region that is being exercised. That’s why it’s important to also do muscle work, emphasizing the region that you want to have more aesthetic results, such as stiffening and/or definition”, she says.

According to the professor, currently, studies suggest and have already become a trend for high-intensity interval training, which can be just aerobic (running, cycling…) or combined with strength / muscular resistance work (weight training, functional training). etc…).

“This strategy will bring more positive adaptations in the body and, on the other hand, will still contribute a lot to the burning of fat, as this format generates an oxygen debt and makes the body have a faster metabolism, for minutes or hours later, to cover the loss”, highlights Bruna.

“An observation that cannot be missed is that the practitioner must be reasonably well conditioned to start this type of work”, adds the teacher. Therefore, the importance of having the guidance and follow-up of a physical education professional is reinforced.

In this context, Bruna highlights the best exercises, both to contribute to muscle mass gain and to increase energy expenditure.

Bike and Run

“Whether cycling or running, on the streets or on a bicycle or treadmill, training helps to lose fat located in the hips and thighs. As the activities are predominantly aerobic, they use fat as a source of energy”, explains Bruna.

squats

The squat should be done with both legs parallel, imitating the movement of sitting on a chair, explains Bruna. “It is very important to keep the spine straight, we can actually use a chair or a bench to practice the squat. And the lower the bench, the more muscles are required. This exercise works the hamstrings and glutes,” she says.

lunges

“They must be done with one leg in front of the other: the back leg supported on the toes, and the front leg with the knee in line with the instep. The movement consists of lowering and raising, relying mainly on the front leg. Both should form a 90 degree angle when we get as close to the ground as possible”, explains Bruna.

3. CoolSculpting (treatment)

Eduardo Sucupira highlights CoolSculpting® as a great option to get rid of culottes. This is a treatment indicated for the reduction of localized fat, based on Cryolipolysis, in which the fat cells are eliminated with the cold.

The method is non-invasive, it is done without cuts, anesthesia or other injectable substances. Therefore, considered a safe option. The person can return to their activities on the same day.

According to the surgeon Sucupira, sometimes a single session is necessary. On the Coolsculpting Brasil website it is possible to find the places/cities where the treatment is offered. The session can cost around R$2,500.

4. Radiofrequency

According to Regiane Salinas, dermatofunctional physiotherapist at Ame-se Saúde e Estética, radiofrequency has become one of the most suitable aesthetic treatments for reducing culottes.

The technique generates a deep heat that acts on the adipocyte, resulting in the reduction of localized fat.

4 to 12 sessions are needed in each region to be treated, according to Regiane. “But that number of sessions will be established after careful evaluation,” he says.

A radiofrequency session can cost, on average, R$500 to R$1,500, depending on the location/city where the treatment will be performed.

5. Lipocavitation

Lipocavitation is another aesthetic treatment used to reduce culottes, according to Regiane.

“The ultrasonic waves are emitted by the device and reach the adipocyte to be treated. Thus, they induce lipolysis and promote an increase in intracellular tension, causing the rupture of the fat cell membrane”, says the physical therapist.

“After each session it is important to practice aerobic physical activity. It is recommended that the practice be performed within 4 hours after the session. A minimum of 10 sessions are recommended”, adds Regiane.

The price of each session varies greatly according to the chosen clinic, ranging from R$80 to R$270.

6. Carboxytherapy

Regiane explains that the treatment consists of the application of CO2 (anhydrous carbon dioxide) under the skin, from 15 to 30 minutes per session. “From the fourth session onwards, it is already possible to observe the skin more rigid due to the better distribution of collagen and the reduction of a few centimeters in measurements”, he says.

In this treatment, carbon dioxide is injected, increasing blood flow, improving circulation and drainage. Thus, there is an acceleration in the elimination of toxins and the release of fatty acids, reducing swelling and promoting a breakdown in the cells that store fat.

“The treatment is considered painful, but with good results”, adds the physical therapist.

Prices vary widely, but can reach around R$300 per session.

7. Manthus

Regiane explains that Manthus is a device that generates ultrasound stereodynamic currents. “By transmitting an electrical current, it reaches 4 cm of fat layer,” he says.

Basically, ultrasound promotes the breakdown of fat cells while currents potentiate their action, stimulating the lymphatic system to eliminate these fats more effectively.

The total number of sessions will be established after evaluation, but usually around 10 sessions are indicated, highlights Regiane.

The price can vary a lot, on average from R$100 to R$200 per session.

8. Massages

Lymphatic drainage can be another option to help eliminate the culote. Regiane explains that it is a technique that helps the body to eliminate toxins and liquids that accumulate between tissues through gentle movements.

The price varies a lot depending on the place where the treatment will be performed, but it is usually around R$100 and R$200 per session.

Also according to Regiane, the reductive massage is also indicated for the reduction of the breeches, especially for having more intense movements on the skin, thus helping in the elimination of toxins and manipulation of the cells that store fat.

A reductive massage session can cost around R$100 to R$150.

“Remembering that these techniques must be associated with other treatments to obtain better results”, adds Regiane.

9. Reducing bandage

Another good alternative to help eliminate localized fat, including the breeches. The treatment associates the use of specific gels to the bandage (band gases) involving the area in question of the patient’s body.

Both in the case of cold bandage (cryotherapy) and in the case of hot bandage (thermotherapy), the purpose is to promote lipolysis (breakdown of the fat cell), thus helping to reduce measurements.

The price varies a lot, but is usually around R$100 per session.

10. Plastic surgery

Surgeon Francisco Neto explains that it is normal for some patients, even with dietary care and physical activity, to still have accumulations of fat in the region of the “culottes” due to genetic and hormonal factors. “In this case, liposuction and liposculpture may be indicated to remove the localized fat and in the region, allowing a smooth and harmonious body contour of the region”, he highlights.

11. Home treatments

Some people bet on “home treatments” to help reduce fat located in the breeches. However, the truth is that none of them has proven effectiveness.

The so-called “home-made reducing bandage” is an example. The person buys some “reducing gel” available on the market or even makes a “homemade gel” (for example, with green clay), applies the product and then wraps the desired area of the body with a bandage (in this case, breeches).

The plastic surgeon Eduardo Sucupira points out, however, that there are no scientific studies that demonstrate that the reducing bandage is indicated to end the culote.

In addition, it is not recommended to do this type of treatment without professional guidance. The ideal is to look for a clinic that works with dermatofunctional physiotherapy.

Regiane points out that there have always been so-called “home treatments”. “Like, for example, miracle teas or mixtures of fruits, grains and herbs that are used as pastes or even ingested. However, there is nothing that proves its effectiveness,” he says.

The only home treatment and prevention method, according to Regiane, is to associate the following…
