11 Things That Make Your Kitchen Eternally Messy

Never before in history have men been so present in the kitchen. A survey by the University of North Carolina, USA, showed that, among American men, 43% cook regularly, the highest level in the last 30 years. And, according to the same research, they spend, on average, 49 minutes cooking.

With countless food shows on TV and the Internet and men and women improving their skills in the pans, the kitchen is gaining in importance and, of course, needs to be comfortable, clean and practical. But even the most experienced amateur cooks can find things in the kitchen that require a lot of time and effort to clean.

O awesome.club searched and found useless, uncomfortable and even harmful things in the kitchen, with which your home does not need to suffer.

1. Cutting boards for everything

It is better to use separate boards: for meat, fruit and fish. However, it is worth remembering that plastic ones are considered much more dangerous from the point of view of the reproduction of bacteria dangerous to health, compared to wooden ones. Scratches and cracks on plastic planks end up becoming deeper than on wooden surfaces. Consequently, cleaning such a board becomes increasingly difficult.

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends using two cutting boards in home kitchens. One for meat, fish and poultry and the second for other types of food.

2. Furniture with high feet

3. Floor with grooves

Every space in the kitchen, no matter how small, is a magnet for dirt. A mixture of dust with tiny drops of grease will stay in the spaces and grooves of the floor for a long time.

The fewer irregularities there are on the kitchen floor, the simpler and easier it will be to clean.

4. The same cloth for everything

Researchers grew bacteria from 100 kitchen towels after one month of use. Almost half of them had bacteria capable of causing disease. In addition, it was observed that, in cloths used for different purposes, such as dusting furniture, drying hands and surfaces, bacteria developed more than in towels used for a single purpose.

Therefore, it is necessary to use at least 2 cloths in the kitchen, replacing them in a few weeks. Paper towels are even more hygienic: they are only used once and therefore do not accumulate microbes or bacteria.

5. Set of knives

First, the item is large and takes up a lot of space on your work surface, which means you’ll have to keep picking up parts with extra care. Second, these sets feature unthinkable knives that you could go years without using.

6. Visible hood

This type of tube is relatively simple to install, except that dust accumulates in its bends. Cleaning is often cumbersome, as the pipe is usually close to the ceiling and is also relatively flexible, bending easily with friction.

A good alternative can be an exhaust system: these are more easily kept clean with a damp cloth. Another way to make cleaning easier is to install a kitchen set from the ceiling, hiding the pipe behind furniture doors.

7. Containers

Several containers for storing food are very practical, but countless unused plastic containers end up taking up precious kitchen space. Food storage containers are intended for single use and are not suitable for storing food multiple times.

Experts advise replacing reusable containers if they start to lose color and start to get scratches and cracks.

8. Unused knick-knacks

The toaster that used to make sandwiches, but which today only collects dust on the shelf, the blender that spreads liquid all over the kitchen and broken utensils that have not been used for a long time. People with a certain hoarding tendency may have a hard time getting rid of things like this.

Objects that are no longer needed can be donated or even sold to an interested party. That way, you’ll spend less time cleaning the shelves and make room for things you really need.

9. Kitchen island with hood

Although the size of the kitchen allows the installation of an island with a hood in the middle of the room, it is better to reject the idea. If there is a problem with the hood, you will need to wash the entire kitchen. On the other hand, when the hood is installed close to the wall, the area affected by such an accident will be much smaller.

It is better to install a sink on the kitchen island, making the place an additional work area.

10. Household appliances on the countertop by the window

With the difference in temperature inside the equipment, condensation can appear that will soon get out of control. The microwave oven is particularly susceptible to the effects: condensation will destroy the enamel layer, paving the way for oxidation after a year.

It is much better to install the microwave on a separate shelf attached to the wall. The space next to the window can serve as an additional work area.

11. Kettle with impregnated dirt

If the person accidentally and from time to time swallows some particles of this dirt, it is likely that nothing strange will happen. But if you regularly drink tea or coffee prepared in a kettle like this, the salts released in the stomach will begin to penetrate the blood vessels, kidneys, blood and other internal organs.

Excess salts accumulate in the joints, clogging blood vessels and can even lead to the formation of kidney stones. Not to mention that the dirt accumulated on the bottom causes the liquid to heat up more slowly, compromising the effectiveness of the object.

You can clean a kettle using vinegar, citric acid, or baking soda.
