11 Script holes in the soap opera “Salve Jorge” that gave rise to social media

Those who followed the soap opera Salve Jorge, back in 2013, must remember the comments caused by the constant holes in the script and the explanations given by Glória Perez on social networks. The author of the telenovela went to the networks constantly to explain to the viewers about the plot of the telenovela.

In fact, Salve Jorge was considered one of Globo’s telenovelas with the most plot holes. The repercussion of the mistakes increased the public’s interest, and left the soap opera marked in the memory of the fans. Now, we can only have fun reminiscing hole by hole and reliving the feelings we had back then.

Therefore, the awesome.club gathered this list with the main holes in the script of the soap opera Salve Jorge, in addition to other inconsistencies found in the story of Glória Perez.

1. Igreja de São Jorge: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Morena (Nanda Costa) was a fearless person. In one chapter of Salve Jorge, she was with her baby daughter inside an armored car, and the car was being attacked. Even so, she decides to get out of the car, to flee the attack on foot with the child in her arms, in the dead of night.

So far, so good. She goes to St. George’s Church, which, inexplicably, is open at this hour. And that’s not all: she finds Érica (Flávia Alessandra) at the church, canceling the wedding, and gives her her daughter. In another chapter, Morena meets her boyfriend Théo (Rodrigo Lombardi) in the same church at dawn. Apparently, the church remains open until late at night.

2. “Come here, do I know you?”

The day Jessica (Carolina Dieckmann) died, Morena screamed for help with her friend in her arms, and it was Mustafa (Antonio Calloni) who came to help. Some time later, Morena and Mustafa meet again in a nightclub in Istanbul and do not recognize each other. Strange huh?

3. “Come here, do I know you?” – part 2

Another “forgotten” character was Barros (Marcelo Airoldi). He had already questioned Wanda (Totia Meirelles) when she was involved in a car accident with Maitê (Cissa Guimarães). But when she went to testify about Jessica’s death, Barros acted as if he didn’t know her.

This time, there was no way around it, the author had to cover the hole in the script with a dialogue later on between Barros and Helô (Giovanna Antonelli). He regrets not having recognized Wanda, and his co-worker consoles him: “Ask me if I remember all the guys who sat in that chair to solve trivial things? How many traffic fights do you get into each day?”

4. “Come here, do I know you?” — footwear edition

Returning to Jessica, even on the day of her death there was a buzz among the fans. After all, she kept saying that she would recognize the mob boss’s shoes “even if she was in a crowded Maracanã”. That’s not exactly what happens when Jessica and Morena are kneeling next to the criminal Lívia (Cláudia Raia).

We can be more understanding here and use a little suspension of disbelief to explain that Livia would be nervous, so she didn’t recognize those shoes. Also, later on, she ends up recognizing, in a less likely situation, just before leaving for a better one.

5. Makeup like this I want too!

Now, no suspension of disbelief is able to make us accept this scene. We’re talking about the one in which Morena and Lívia fight in an alley in Istanbul, roll on the wet floor, exchange kicks, punches and hair pulls, in the best novelistic style. Soon after, Morena appears at the hotel with her makeup in perfect condition. Tell us, Morena, which beauty salon you go to.

6. My home, my life, as a waitress in Turkey

Another situation experienced by Morena left fans of the soap opera standing on end, who always got an A in math. The character, with a marriage and a son, drops everything to work as a waitress in a cafe in Turkey and buy a house for her mother. It turns out that she signed a job contract for just three months, earning 1,500 reais a month. At the end of the contract, even with big tips, it wouldn’t be enough to make that dream come true, would it?

7. I’ve heard about the accordion effect, but that’s an exaggeration!

Some scenes of Salve Jorge were shot out of order, which is normal in the audiovisual world. But this ended up causing a very strange continuity error. Morena’s pregnant belly changed size depending on where she was. In addition, the gestation period in the soap opera was also different: the character Tamar (Yanna Lavigne) got pregnant before Morena, but only gave birth months later.

It may seem that we are getting on Morena’s feet, but it must be said that her interpreter, Nanda Costa, did an excellent job and was highly praised. At first, some people were reticent about the casting of Nanda, since she had never played a protagonist, but the actress assured herself and showed confidence even in the most difficult scenes.

8. Were all Globo cameras loaned to BBB?

The villain Lívia, played by the glorious Cláudia Raia, thought she should attack another character in the soap opera, Rachel (Ana Beatriz Nogueira), inside an elevator. More than disgusted by the act of violence, fans could not believe that in the elevator there was not even a security camera that could incriminate the killer.

Once again, Glória Perez took to Twitter to counter the criticism, citing famous cases of crimes in which the recordings could not be conveniently recovered. Still, she put a dialogue between Lívia and Wanda saying that there were people in the hotel working for her, and that they took care of disappearing the recording.

9. Really, really

In this case, even Vera Fischer spoke some truths, living up to her name. On the occasion of the launch of her book Lucíola, she took the opportunity to pinpoint the way in which the character was written. “They didn’t need to call me to do the soap opera (…) They could put someone who is starting, who needs it. It’s a character, which for me, is almost humiliating.”

10. Supporting life is not easy…

It was also criticized by the public, the sudden disappearance of some supporting characters, for no reason. They simply stopped showing up for several weeks, then came back without explanation. Other characters made no difference in the plot, like Marcia who gave Captain Theo a kiss and nothing else happened. Sacha Bali, Duda Nagle, Cris Vianna, Fernanda Paes Leme are some of the actors who looked like “wow” in this soap opera.

11. Do you speak “novelês”? (Or, do you speak “Novelese”?)

In addition, Salve Jorge was criticized for a common feature in most novels written by Glória Perez. The author usually sets parts of the plot in other countries, such as Morocco, India and Turkey, which is great for putting the audience in touch with other cultures.

It would be another case of suspension of disbelief, after all, the same thing happens in American movies (all the planets in the galaxy speak English), if it weren’t for the last scoop on this list. When Jessica ran away and went to a police station in Turkey, no one could understand what she was saying. When Morena fought with Lívia, the policeman who appeared understood Portuguese, spoke Portuguese and still had a carioca accent!

“You have to fly”, Gloria Perez used to say about her scripts. So we suggest you fly straight to this another list with more errors and holes in the script of this and other novels as well. But not before commenting on what other mistakes you couldn’t accept to see when you watched Salve Jorge.
