I ordered a taxi, sat in the back, never taking my eyes off the phone. I confirmed the address and when I looked up I noticed that there was a girl behind the wheel.
Me: “Good afternoon… Ah… Wow, I think you are the third taxi driver I’ve met in my life”.
Driver: “Swear?”
Me: “Yes. At least for me it’s unusual. Why did you decide to venture into this profession?”
Driver: “I needed money, I decided to give it a try. In fact, you are my first customer”.

I asked, “Is it the first?” “Third,” she replied. “And your husband doesn’t mind that you’re working?” “Well, the other option was to stay at home. With two children. Pregnant. We have a taxi company in the city called “Sorte”. I once had a race with a taxi driver and I asked her if she wasn’t afraid, because different people could always show up. She said yes, but that the job was interesting. She told me the following story: she received an order and, at the indicated place, two men were waiting for her. One looked normal, and the other couldn’t stand up, he was in very bad shape. She refused. The first, then, almost fell to his knees begging to take them, as other drivers had refused, and he could not leave his friend alone. She took pity and accepted. Everything went well on the trip, and there were no incidents. Upon arrival, the guy gave a good tip and said: “The name of this company is right. We were very lucky to find you!”

I’ve ridden in a taxi with several female drivers, but they never left me any specific impressions — neither positive nor negative — except a foreign one. The woman said that she spoke Russian, Ukrainian, English and, of course, her native language, Yoruba. When I asked her if she needed to speak Yoruba often in Ukraine, she replied that her most asked question was “What is Yoruba?” As a taxi driver, I gave it five stars: he knew the city very well, drove at the ideal speed and knew how to have a good conversation with me and my wife. In our city, there is a restaurant called “Maternidade”. She had called the hospital, as she was already in labor and needed to go there urgently. I called a taxi. After getting into the vehicle, I informed: “To the maternity ward”. The driver repeated the destination to the digital navigator, and the device confirmed “Restaurant maternity, downtown”. I screamed in pain and because I thought it was hilarious. I showed her my belly and that I needed to go to a real maternity ward. She smiled, took me quickly and didn’t even charge for the ride.
