Fashion comes and goes, but memories remain. Not so long ago, it was fashionable to wear clothes with an unimaginable amount of sequins, get piercings and cut those annoying fringes. It turns out that most of the trends of the time look “tacky” today, but someday the fashions of today probably will too.
We, from awesome.clubwe got a little nostalgic and decided to remember the trends followed by many a few years ago, which today make us laugh.
layered maxi skirts
Such skirts were worn both at events and in everyday life and were often combined with everything: shirts, T-shirts and tops. They could also be found in a variety of different designs. And sometimes the look with such a skirt was complemented by a chain belt.
boho style
Vibrant floor-length skirts, tunics, capes with ethnic prints, oversized accessories, fringes: everything boho fans wore in the 2000s. This style is a mix of gypsy and hippie cultures. And many people were quite fond of dressing like that.
stretch clothes
These crinkled, accordion garments were impressive. After all, when compressed, they looked like doll clothes. But thanks to their great ability to stretch, they could be used by people of different sizes and ages.
uncomfortable fringes
Many people in the 2000s probably tried to cut their bangs and then impatiently waited for them to grow back. Beyoncé and Fergie also followed this trend (or maybe they started it). These bangs, which usually covered the eyes, were also worn sideways or parted in the middle.
Lots of glitter and rhinestones
Back then, “less is more” was simply not a phrase people were familiar with. Excessive shine was on everything: jewelry, jeans, dresses, blouses, heels and even cell phones. And, of course, the glamor wore off as soon as the sequins or rhinestones fell off and there was just glue in place.
pompadour hairstyle
A week after cutting the bangs, and it started to grow out, many already wanted to get rid of it. To stylize them and remain in fashion, some wore the pompadour hairstyle (topete), sometimes leaving the fringe very high and securing it with clips or barrettes.
nail piercing
In the early 2000s, piercing and decorated nails were on the rise. That’s why the girls decided to combine the two trends. It was then that nail piercing became a fashion, which consisted of inserting a metal ring (with or without decorative stones) into a hole at the tip of the nail.
bandanas
Fashionistas found that they could wear headbands not only for sports. At that time, they were used in completely different versions. Some favored hippie-style tracks, others sportier. And some simply tied their hair with them.
Lace and satin blouses
Probably, if you ask about these clothes to a group of ten women, whose youth took place in the 2000s, eight of them will answer that they wore t-shirts and blouses of this style. Most often combined with shorts or jeans.
ruched dresses
These dresses and blouses of different colors and textures were everywhere. It seems like every fashionista had one in her wardrobe. Although, of course, they had to use it with caution, as the folds could ruin the silhouette as easily as they emphasized the curves. And these pieces usually slid across the body, so you had to be careful all the time.
In your opinion, do any of these pieces deserve a second chance to come back into fashion? Tell us in the comments!
