10+ Shoe Models That Are Already Out of Fashion (and What Options to Replace Them)

Fashion is a changing phenomenon and, therefore, it is necessary to be aware of new trends when it comes to footwear, since this piece is fundamental in any look🇧🇷 How, then, can we recognize those who have gone out of fashion? And which models are winning the catwalks and which will hit the streets in the coming months? The answer you will find below.

O awesome.club carefully analyzed the most recent fashion shows and, thus, managed to highlight some trends that will still be grooving in 2020. At the end of the post, you will find some trends that managed to reinvent themselves and are back!

14. “Daddy’s Sneakers”

The “daddy sneakers” (“daddy’s sneakers”, in Portuguese) managed to tire not only the fashionistas, but also the general public. Sneakers that seem to give weight to the feet have already been relegated to the past and are now being replaced by basic models, such as those presented in the collections of brands such as Marine Serre, Gucci, Ralph & Russo and House of Holland. For those who are not afraid to dare, fashion houses Jamie Wei Huang and Longchamp have launched the model sock sneakerswhich unites the sock and footwear in the same piece.

13. Thin jumping and platforms

In 2020, fashion trends are following the line of the “comfy” movement and, therefore, shoes with greater instability are being exchanged for thicker heels🇧🇷 Dries Van Noten, Prabal Gurung and Tibi are some of the houses that are eyeing this style.

12. Fine beak

Pointed heels are also being forgotten in the wardrobe. In its place, the elegant and feminine “Mary Jane” appeared — with a more rounded toe, thicker heel and an ankle strap. In this sense, Maison Margiela, DROMe and Marc Jacobs have brought, in their most recent collections, some timeless classics.

11. Black boot

Good news for those who love to use boots: The long-barreled model is back in fashion, but not quite in the same way. The brands Miu Miu, Altuzarra, Jeremy Scott and Sies Marjan presented models in the most diverse colors: fuchsia, sparkling green, bright blue, sky blue and all the shades of the rainbow in their most striking variations.

Some fashion houses, such as Saint Laurent, Rodarte, Tom Ford, Off-White, Rejina Pyo and Prabal Gurung, guarantee that the absolute trend for 2020 is the animal prints🇧🇷 Would you dare to wear a “snake” print like in the Dries Van Noten show?

10. Classic-toned booties

The previous trend also applies to short ankle boots. Famous brands such as Jeremy Scott and Coach sought, in their latest collections, to create more colorful and flashy options. Çelevations in classic colors such as beige, brown and black are, for now, off the radar.

9. Transparent shoes

It is surprising that transparent shoes have managed to maintain their popularity for so long. They are unecological, uncomfortable and of very questionable taste. Fortunately, now they have gone out of fashion, giving way to shoes with voluminous details — a trend that is also far from unanimous🇧🇷 But the fact is that many of the pieces from houses like Bottega Veneta, Proenza Schouler, Issey Miyake, AWAKE MODE and Natasha Zinko make us want to try the trend.

8. Slippers

The collections of the Michael Kors Collection, Gabriela Hearst, Anna Sui, Erdem and Valentino offer a new decade of design “in the heights”, or rather, on the platform🇧🇷 The higher, therefore, the better. In other words, goodbye, flats. If you want an even more stylish model, opt for sandals with crossed straps on the platform, as in the model above.

7. mule

The mule was widely used by royalty in the 16th century and, revamped, has been successful for some time. But in the 2020 season, it lost place to the clogs🇧🇷 And as the two types of shoes are relatively similar, how to differentiate one from the other? We explain: clogs have a thicker sole. In addition, they usually have an opening in the front. The brands Marc Jacobs and Anna Sui recommend that, this season, you leave the pieces without heels for that trip to the beach and, in everyday life and at work, choose models that “lift”. They are the trend.

6. Strips

Pointed heels and ankle straps were once quite popular in the midst. fashion🇧🇷 But everything changes and this year it’s time for style “gladiator”🇧🇷 Models with different strap designs were presented in all fashion houses such as Versace, Simone Rocha, Christian Dior, Valentino, Longchamp, Toga, Elisabetta Franchi, Etro, Givenchy, GCDS and Missoni.

5. Closed heel

Until recently, many celebrities appeared on red carpets with high-heeled sandals and closed heels. Now, however, it is the turn of the slingbacks, a classic from the 50s known by some as “grandmother’s shoes” and with bare heels. The brands Coach, Louis Vuitton, Proenza Schouler and Tory Burch propose the most diverse “experiments” with this model, which has been redesigned by Christian Dior: different shaped heels, elegant decor, vibrant colors and whatever else you want to try. Oh, and pastel tones are super welcome.

4. Rounded beak

Round-toe flats are outdated models that are likely to make any fashion editor yawn. The novelty of the moment are the more pointed beaks, as in the models of the brands Gucci, Haider Ackermann, Saint Laurent and Michael Kors. But the pinnacle of this style is the square beak. The trend has already been seen in fashion shows at Miu Miu, Proenza Schouler and DROMe.

3. Velvet

Here we have one of those classic cases in which an impractical material is replaced by another: velvet has given way to to satin🇧🇷 You have to be very careful with shoes of this type, trying to avoid them getting dirty as much as possible. After all, as you can imagine, if this happens, it will be extremely difficult to clean them. On the other hand, having such a novelty in your wardrobe can earn you points. look, making it even more elegant and feminine. Brands such as Zimmermann, Miu Miu, Dries Van Noten, Proenza Schouler, Simone Rocha and Giambattista Valli already offer the option.

2. Leather shoes

Remember the famous Gucci leather shoes? Although this model looks strange, the fashion has lasted quite a while. And, although the era of shoes made entirely with fur is already behind us, houses like Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, Altuzarra, Dries Van Noten, Ralph & Russo, Simone Rocha and JW Anderson have already launched options in which they (as well as feathers) are used as a complement and decoration.

1. Accessories

Perhaps the biggest novelty of the season is the fact that shoes are taking on the role of accessories, capable of replacing both jewelry and real gemstones. To increase the lookssome brands (such as Prabal Gurung, Peter Pilotto, Balmain, Bottega Veneta and Simone Rocha) added crystals, chains and pearls on the feet of models in their shows, making it clear that this would be the trend. If you want to (literally) get into style, but without spending too much, one option is to buy chains and attach them to the sandals you already have at home — of course, sparingly and without exaggeration.

Bonus: You probably weren’t expecting these trends to return in 2020. But they did.
