9. The first samba school in Rio de Janeiro
The school Let them talk was founded in 1928 in the Rio de Janeiro neighborhood of Estácio and is considered by researchers to be the first samba school in Brazil. The term ‘school’ comes precisely from the fact that samba was, in fact, taught and spread samba — as, by the way, it still happens today. Let talk closed its activities in 1933. Of the schools in activity, the oldest is the super champion portelafounded in 1923
8. And the first one in São Paulo
In São Paulo, the first school was the Primeira de São Paulo (yes, that was the name), created in 1935. Like the one in Rio, it no longer exists. Of the schools in activity, the oldest is the most championed Go Go, created in 1930, but still as a carnival band, and not as a samba school. Vai-Vai only became a samba school, so called, in 1973.

2. Falling into samba is a way to burn calories
You may already know (or at least imagine) that sambar helps you burn calories. But do you know exactly how many? Half an hour of dancing samba rock is able to eliminate about 255 calories🇧🇷 the same time as samba de gafieira burns slightly less: 236 calories. In both cases, the burn is greater than the same time of street dancing, for example (175 calories) or ballroom dancing (144 calories).
1. Other cities to enjoy Carnival
Although Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Recife-Olinda and, more recently, São Paulo (with the street blocks) are, shall we say, classics, there are other cities with incredible carnivals, whether they are blocks or school parades. Choose the closest destination and enjoy the revelry.
