10 Movies That Used Less Computer Imaging Than You Think

Not all movies rely on computer-generated imagery (CGI) to create amazing scenes. Directors and special effects specialists sometimes work miracles without the use of technology.

We decided to list some scenes that are true, although almost everyone thinks they were created on the computer.

1. Tom Cruise actually climbed the Burj Khalifa in the movie Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Do you think the Burj Khalifa (the tallest building in the world, in Dubai, at 828 meters) is really scary? The most amazing thing is that the actor actually cast him during the shooting of the film. “When you’re up there and you look around, people are going to think it was created with CGI, but it’s real,” Gregg Smrz, the film’s stunt coordinator, told the LA Times.

Of course, using a green setting is easier and less dangerous, but these people like to take risks.

2. The scene where the cars roll over in Casino Royalefrom the James Bond film series

Since Daniel Craig’s entry into the world of James Bond films many records have been broken, including the biggest explosion ever made on the big screen. In the picture what we see really happened.

One of the first records was in the first film starring him: Casino Royale🇧🇷 According to the book Guinness Bookstunt specialist Adam Kirley fired no less than 7 shots with a cannon.

3. The scene where Tobey Maguire takes the tray from Spider man

4. The Café Paris scene in The origin

Christopher Nolan is known for his mind-blowing films and little use of CGI. One such film is Inception, where you can see a large group of practical effects.

A well-known scene is that of Café Paris, in which many pieces explode in slow motion. To make this work, the team used a series of air cannon shots while the scene was recorded at 1,500 frames per second using special cameras.

5. Dinosaurs in Jurassic Park: Dinosaur Park

Even 24 years after its release, the film’s effects are still impressive. The dinosaurs in the movie were built and some were people in dinosaur costumes. This was all possible thanks to the efforts of Oscar-winning special effects master Stan Winston.

6. In Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind no CGI either

Jim Carrey tries to get rid of his girlfriend’s memories in one of his best performances in the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind)🇧🇷 Not only are his and Kate Winslet’s performances wonderful, but their use of special effects.

To create two versions of Joel Barish (Carrey’s character), one in memory and the other looking at memories, director Michel Gondry made the actor run from one side to the other. Only a few transitions were done using CGI.

7. Vehicle overturning in Batman the dark knight

8. The orcs of Lord of the Rings

after recording The Hobbit with a 3D camera and 48 frames per second, Peter Jackson expected a great response from the public. But people preferred The Lord of the Rings. Although the trilogy makes use of a lot of CGI technology, the orcs and other creatures in the film were made with makeup and prosthetics. Really impressive work.

9. Tony Stark’s reactor arc

We’re not denying the fact that Iron Man has a lot of computer-generated imagery, but one of the most cut scenes in the movie is when Pepper Pots takes Tony’s reactor arc. Perhaps this is the only scene where there is no use of CGI, because Marvel movies are always very technological. Behind-the-scenes footage revealed that the vault was a prop and that most of Tony Stark’s lab was real.

10. The asteroids in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back are a potato and a shoe

At the Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back from the Star Wars movies, a potato and a shoe were used as asteroids. The details were released by the site IMDb (specialized in films).

Bonus: Christopher Nolan planted 500 hectares of corn for interstellar
