10 Movies Released in 2021 That Disappointed Viewers

2021 was an extremely promising year for cinema: Leonardo DiCaprio, for example, appeared on the big screen for the first time after Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood, and the name of Anthony Hopkins in the credits is undoubtedly a guarantee that we will see an excellent movie. But sometimes, a production we’ve been looking forward to can disappoint us.

This satirical comedy impresses audiences with its cast: in addition to Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, who played the main roles, the production has the participation of the brilliant Meryl Streep and the young star Timothée Chalamet. However, not even these celebrities were able to save the film.

Critics point out that while the actors do their best, the looseness of the narrative leaves little chance of catching the viewer’s attention. Don’t Look Up was one of the most anticipated projects of the year, but audiences thought watching the film was a waste of time.

More proof that a stellar cast is not always able to save a movie. Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot and even a budget of around 160 million dollars did not make the film Red Alert attractive to the public.

The plot is weak and the film lacks a constant pace: silly jokes, one after the other, break the balance of events. Unfortunately, even with brilliant actors in front of the camera, it’s impossible to work a miracle if the script doesn’t measure up to a box office success.

It seems that the filmmakers tried to arouse the audience’s nostalgia, but they framed the well-known characters in inappropriate environments. The new adaptation of Tom & Jerry is a mixture of film and animation, in which both parts are neither funny nor together nor apart.

As for the plot, characters and script, the production is a bad family movie, full of inappropriate sentimentality and silly jokes.

For Angelina Jolie, the role in Eternals was a new experience. She often plays strong women, but she has never portrayed a superhero. However, even with the presence of this superstar on set, the producers’ attempt to make a movie different from the others produced by Marvel failed.

The film is extremely pompous, but there is nothing exciting about it: the superheroes are boring and the narrative is quite incoherent.

The film is related to the previous ones only by the concept of the crime, as there are new characters, a new story, and even the main villain, John Kramer (Jigsaw), is barely mentioned. And the horror part of the movie leaves something to be desired.

Film critics wrote that it seems like the producers of Spiral: Legacy Saw simply ignored all of the franchise’s strengths and focused on its weaknesses. Even the trap scenes, which made many horror movie fans adore the franchise, feel unnecessary in this film and, at times, even get in the way of the narrative.

If you’re expecting to see lots of zombies on screen, the movie probably won’t let you down, as they are everywhere. But the viewer who wants to understand the reason for everything that is happening (by the way, quite clear in the Resident Evil computer game), will be disappointed.

After introducing the protagonists, the film quickly devolves into a low-end horror film that no longer struggles to keep pace with the narrative.

The protagonist is considered an experienced criminal. He calls himself Virtuoso, but throughout the narrative he makes so many ridiculous mistakes that the drama turns into a bad-taste comedy.

The audience seems to be impressed not by the plot twists, but by the fact that the magnificent Anthony Hopkins is involved in this farce.

The feature film Black Widow received a very high rating, but according to the critics, the producers’ only good idea was to employ as many women as possible. Other than that, the movie is full of clichés peppered with bland jokes and pathetic, “pain only makes you stronger” lines.

Previously, the protagonist’s charm consisted of not being a superhero in the usual sense of the word, despite demonstrating excellent physical shape. And the new film is full of scenes whose logic is incomprehensible, even for superheroes.

The promising science fiction film did not please critics: the scenes that reveal the relationship between the characters seem to be quite lengthy and more reminiscent of a perfume advertisement.

The film itself looks like a faulty plot generator that delivered everything at once: in the course of the story bandits and illegitimate children appear, as well as revelations of broken love relationships.

The film has a positive aspect: unlike many other films based on youth novels, it does not present a clear division of characters into groups. Thanks to that, in Mundo em Chaos there are fewer stereotyped situations. However, that’s all we can highlight.

The film has some ideas through which a good satire or a good social drama could have been shown, but all we see is just a dystopia, filmed to please everyone. Despite the considerable budget, the film, according to critics, is more reminiscent of a 70s science fiction series.
