At the age of 66, a woman gives birth to her first daughter and fights against social rejection due to late motherhood

In 2005, Adriana Iliescu’s story generated great repercussions in the media and society. At 66, she entered the Book of Records as the oldest woman in the world to give birth. Since then, Adriana has faced great social rejection because of the fact. But she manages to overcome it thanks to her daughter’s love.

O awesome.club I would like to share with you the moving story of a strong and determined woman who fulfilled her dream of becoming a mother despite all the obstacles.

When Adriana was 20 years old, she married a man who did not want to have children and, after some time, filed for divorce. From then on, she began to dedicate all her time to teaching at a university in her country, Romania.

For 9 years, Adriana underwent several treatments against infertility and tried to get pregnant, but without success. So, when she was already 66 years old, she underwent IVF, taking into account the possible consequences. But she wasn’t afraid, because the dream of being a mother was bigger. Some friends judged her for making such a decision. Others even ended the friendship and refused to understand the reasons for this “immoral act”.

Adriana finally managed to get pregnant with triplets, but two of them died in the womb. Eliza, the third, was born prematurely and had to spend some time in a NICU. Soon, the girl got better; it was time to baptize her. Adriana, however, faced a huge backlash from religious organizations, which condemned her for the horrible and selfish choice made too late. When she finally managed to book the ceremony, she had to face sneers, including from the nuns. One of them called Adriana’s daughter an “evil creature”; but she didn’t care. Being a mother, after all, was a blessing.

Adriana thought seriously about her daughter’s future and ended up making a deal with her doctor. If she dies, he — who is the girl’s godfather — will become the legal guardian until she reaches the age of majority. On the streets, many imagine that Adriana is Eliza’s grandmother. And, despite the risk of dying before the girl reaches the age of majority, there is a super positive side: retired, she dedicates all her free time to Eliza’s education.

A Romanian language and literature teacher, Adriana has written more than 25 children’s books. Living a simple teenage life, the daughter likes exact sciences and has already won several competitions. In the future, Eliza wants to win a university scholarship.

It’s hard to let the bonds of love and affection between Adriana and Eliza go unnoticed. The woman is dedicated to her daughter with all her strength and transmits all her experience and knowledge to her, maintaining, until today, an active and healthy routine and participating in Eliza’s social life. Adriana is already 80 years old, but she feels very good and is waiting for her daughter’s 18th birthday party to celebrate together.
