10 Mistakes you should avoid to make your bedroom much cozier

The bedroom is often the personal space of each family member in the house. Therefore, the environment tends to be assembled and decorated according to each one’s preferences. However, it is possible that we are making several mistakes during the process, which prevents us from taking full advantage of the potential of the environment. Fortunately, there are some tips capable of making the bedroom not only with our face, but much more comfortable and functional.

O awesome.club prepared for you a list of the 10 most frequent mistakes made when decorating a room. Check out each one of them so you don’t run the risk of committing them!

1. Using inappropriately sized bedside tables

When choosing your bedside table, check that it is the right size and height, preventing it from being too big or too small, too high, or too low. For this, you can use the lamp as a reference: the ideal size allows you to place the object without difficulty and without taking up too much space.

2. Putting in a bed that is too big

When positioning the bed, consider the available space in the room. Do not forget that it is recommended to leave at least 60 centimeters of free space on each side of the bed, so that you can lie down and get up without difficulty.

3. Exaggerate with pillows and cushions

There are people who love to leave a lot of pillows on the bed as decoration, while other people are not adept at this trend. But the truth is, the more things are placed in the bedroom, the more messy it will look, making it even more difficult to make the bed. However, forgoing the pillows entirely can leave the bed feeling incomplete. Thus, the ideal is to consider the size of the bed when defining the number of pillows and cushions to place on it.

4. Wrong choice of headboard

The headboard needs to match the bedroom decoration style, the size of the bed and the wall where it will be positioned. Precisely for this reason, it is necessary to think about the function that the headboard will have, be it decoration, support, protection for the wall, etc.

5. Take work to the bedroom

It is not recommended to mix the place of work with rest. Taking the office to the bedroom can prevent you from having a peaceful sleep, as the furniture associated with work tends to remind us of the stress caused by the professional day. If your home does not have a small office, our advice is that you place your desk at a point away from the bed, preferably out of your field of vision, when you are lying down. Another tip is to always keep the table clean and organized.

6. Using a mat that is too small

If you want to use a rug as a decoration element, choose one that takes up most of the room. Otherwise, the environment tends to look less cozy.

7. Having only one lighting point

Plan the points and types of lighting you want to have in the room, according to the use you will give to each corner of the environment. If necessary, add lights in specific places, such as over the nightstand, for those reading moments in bed.

8. Installing curtains that are too thick

9. Having too much furniture in the room

Remember the golden rule: “Less is more”. A room with lots of furniture will not only make the room look messier and/or dirty, it will also make it feel smaller. Generally, the furniture used in bedrooms tends to be large (bed, headboard, bedside tables, wardrobe, etc.). Therefore, we recommend that you think carefully before adding even more volume to this space in the house.

10. Paint with intense colors

It is better to avoid painting the walls of the place where we rest with flashy colors, such as red, orange and strong yellow, as such shades can make it impossible for us to relax completely. It is better to bet on light colors, which refer to tranquility, or even white, which creates the feeling of a wider space. Also, don’t forget to match the color range with other items in the bedroom, such as the bed, furniture, rug, etc.
