10+ Mistakes in Brazilian soap operas that are worthy of “Falha Nossa”

A lot of people have fun trying to find continuity errors in movies and TV shows. But our soap operas are not free from the carelessness of the production team and have already let some not-so-subtle flaws escape. The public’s eyes are always attentive to catch the slips that appear on the scene.

Therefore, the awesome.club decided to list 12 inconsistencies worthy of “Falha Nossa” that caught the attention of viewers in Brazilian plots. Follow!

1. Wet or dry hair?

In the last chapter of Salve-se Quem Puder, the villain Petra (Bruna Guerin) finally gets what she deserves. After distilling her hatred for Alexa (Deborah Secco), the girl decides to fight back and pushes the vixen into a lake. The amusing sequence, however, gained public attention for a peculiar reason.

The bad girl starts to rage after being thrown into the water and her hair seems to change suddenly between one cut scene and another. When we see the character’s face, the locks appear wet and thrown back. But, when she is filmed from the back, her hairstyle is much drier and placed forward. Oops!

2. Formed at age 6

Also in the soap opera Salve-se Quem Puder, Juliana Paiva’s character becomes a witness to a crime and needs to assume a new identity to protect herself. Already in disguise, the girl then decides to forge a university degree with the idea of sustaining her false reality.

The young woman gets the adulterated document and the whole hoax is maintained, but anyone who paid attention to the information on the paper would realize that, in fact, it was a suspicious certificate. That’s because the statement says that she was born in 2012 and graduated in Physiotherapy in 2018. How come? Graduated from higher education at age 6? That was hard to swallow!

3. Simone and Simaria and the chronology error

The problem is that, at that stage of the plot, the story took place in 2007, the year in which the singers were not yet a duo and were part of the band Forró do Muído. Furthermore, the songs that were performed in the scene had not even been released. Could it be that the “colleagues” traveled in time?

4. The book that had not yet been published

An element of O Outro Lado do Paraíso that also seems to have been transported in time was the book It: A Coisa. The famous work by author Stephen King was originally released in the 1980s, but the version that appears during the soap opera is much more recent.

At one point, the character Lívia (Grazi Massafera) appears leafing through the reissue of this horror classic, which only hit bookstores in 2014. Well, if the plot took place in 2007, that would be impossible!

5. The Weird Newspaper

It is common for a soap opera to represent our reality, but creating its own universe. We see, for example, characters reading fictional magazines or consuming products from brands that do not exist. In these cases, it is up to the art team to take care of every detail. Even so, a slip ended up catching the eye, also in O Outro Lado do Paraíso.

In the plot, Elizabeth (Gloria Pires) forges her own death. Already under a new identity, she sees the newspaper of the day on a newsstand with the headline of his death. However, the article written on the news is beyond weird: the text has only 4 sentences, which are repeated to fill the space on the page. How careless!

6. A cameraman in Emperor’s times

State-of-the-art filming equipment in the heart of Imperial Brazil? It seems impossible! But that happened, at least in fiction, thanks to an oversight by the team of In the Emperor’s Times. The soap opera, which followed the reign of Dom Pedro II in Brazil, in the 19th century, let a camera that was being used on the set escape on the scene.

7. The light that no one turned on

It’s always important to remember to turn off the lights when we leave the house. Romero Rômulo, Alexandre Nero’s character in A Regra do Jogo, was aware of this. With an eye on saving electricity, the villain turns off the switches in his apartment before leaving, leaving the environment in the dark.

However, by the time he returns to his residence, the room is fully lit. Did someone invade the boy’s house just to light the lamps and make him pay more for consumption at the end of the month?

8. The locked door that can be opened

Lights that come on without explanation were not the only oddity noted by viewers of The Rules of the Game. In another scene of the soap opera, the character Orlando (Eduardo Moscovis) takes his wife Lara (Carolina Dieckmann) to the bedroom and, thinking about the privacy of the conversation, locks the door with the key.

The lock, however, did not prevent Cesário (Johnny Massaro) from entering the room shortly afterwards, forcing the couple to leave their reckoning for later. Unless the young man was a Hogwarts wizard and had cast the Alohomora spell to clear the passage, this could never have happened.

9. Supernatural straightening

We know that O Beijo do Vampiro was a soap opera that addressed mystical and supernatural themes. But it wasn’t just the dark beings with the sharp canines that seemed to have come from another world. In one scene, the hairstyle of the character Lara (Deborah Secco) also took viewers out of reality.

10. One car, two different license plates

A vehicle’s license plate is like our civil registration document: each one has its own identification. But, in the world of soap operas, a car can indeed change numerical sequence. At least, that’s what happened in A Força do Querer. At one point, the driver Nonato (Silvero Pereira) takes his boss, Silvana (Lilia Cabral), to the airport.

But a discrete detail ended up drawing more attention than the characters themselves. First, we see that the license plate of the car is KVM 4470. However, when he arrives at his destination, the code changes to LKU 6627. It would confuse any traffic cop!

11. The car of the future

As the title suggests, Verão 90 was a period soap opera. The plot, shown in 2019, was set in the 1990s and rescued references that marked that decade. But the representation of the “90s” era was not so perfect. Once upon a time, the young lady Manuzita (Isabelle Drummond) was driving her pink convertible Beetle.

Everything looked fine, until the stickers on the car’s front window were focused on by the camera. The stamps indicated that the vehicle had passed two inspections, in 2010 and 2011. Only if it was a friend of the DeLorean, the automobile that travels through time in the movie Back to the Future.

12. The Mutant Necklace

The telenovela Bom Sucesso also did not escape continuity errors. In a certain scene, the villain Diogo (Armando Babaioff) takes Gisele (Sheron Menezzes) in his car. The girl, then, realizes that the bad guy has changed the route and despairs when she realizes that she is being kidnapped.

The tension of the sequence, however, ends up in the background when a detail is noticed by the viewer. Initially, the character appears with a golden pendant necklace. But, as the camera films her in profile, her neck accessory is another: a silver choker. This time, she couldn’t hide it.
