Sometimes we wonder how people survived without the Internet and its plethora of personal care tips. We often stumble across precious hygiene advice and have no idea how we never thought of it before. If you’ve thought the same, then you’ll love to know another selection of good indications to adopt in your routine today!
O awesome.club is always on the lookout for news on how we can improve our habits, and this time we are going to demystify some hygiene mistakes that we can make. Check out!
1. Rinse your mouth after brushing
Some dentists say it’s much better for our teeth if we spit out the toothpaste after brushing, because it helps us retain the best part of the toothpaste — the fluoride. By gargling with water and rinsing the mouth thoroughly, its preventive effects are reduced, so we are more prone to tooth decay.
2. Not cleaning your hairbrush
Our hairbrushes are a huge breeding ground for bacteria, so washing them every two weeks is recommended. Considering that we tend to use our hairbrush every day, it’s terrible to think about how long we go without washing them properly. A common shampoo will be able to do the job of cleaning our brushes.
3. Store towels in the bathroom
Towels can be contaminated very easily in the bathroom. For example, flushing with the lid open, spraying some product on spray and humidity can contribute to the growth of bacteria in your bath towels, apparently fresh and fluffy. We advise you to store them in a closet in another environment; thus, you avoid disorders, such as some diseases.
4. Completely remove the nose hair
We often tend to associate body hair with something unhygienic, but in the case of our nose, there is no benefit in removing it. They trap dust and other allergens that can enter the lungs. So unless the hairs are coming out of the nose, don’t pluck them. Just do a superficial cleaning.
5. Wash your hands with hot water
We grew up believing that hot water fights germs better, but there’s no difference between hot and cold water when washing our hands. The water should be around 100ºC to really fight the bacteria! Also, hot water can be harsh on the skin, which can make your hands dry. Just wash them longer instead of using hot water.
6. Shower curtain too long
The folds in your bathroom curtain are a favorite place for moisture-loving bacteria. Many times, we close the curtain to leave it taut and dry after a shower, but we forget about the bar touching the floor. Make sure you have it at a height where it doesn’t touch the floor, above the bathroom floor, and the problem will be solved.
7. Use deodorant right after showering
Many of us put on deodorant as soon as we get out of the shower to instantly prevent any odor, but that way we won’t be contributing to it. Apply deodorant only if your skin is perfectly dry, or your deodorant will not work well. Be patient and as a result you will be able to get rid of the odors caused by sweat.
8. Wash your body with a loofah
Maybe you’ve heard that you need to change the loofah frequently, because it can be an attraction for germs in your bathroom. So, it is better to opt for a silicone brush. She’s not usually porous, so it’s easier to keep clean, plus it doesn’t build up bacteria. Not to mention that it will last much longer and be gentler on the skin due to its hypoallergenic properties.
9. Clean the bathroom at room temperature
You’ll be amazed at the difference if you preheat the bathroom in advance. The higher temperature will make your products more effective and general washing much easier. Just turn on the shower at a high temperature and make your bathroom hot, before washing it.
10. Not wearing flip flops in a public restroom
The floor is the dirtiest surface in the bathroom, even in your home. Now, imagine what it must be like in a gym or a hotel… We shudder at the thought of touching the floor with our toes in these places. Medical experts warn of the possibility of numerous germs, so be sure to bring shower slippers if you know you might need them when showering outside.
