There are no two identical love stories, no matter how similar they are. In the world of soap operas, this principle is especially true. For this reason, producers often “rewrite” great hits from other countries, adapting them to local customs and culture and achieving great success.
O awesome.club discovered some Mexican soap operas that are adaptations of productions from other countries, with their differences and similarities, and wants to share more details about them with you.
1. Rebel Way (Argentina) vs. Rebel
While the Argentine version aired in 2002, the Mexican one was broadcast a few years later. Both soap operas tell the story of some teenagers who attend a high-class private school, where they experience love and setbacks.
two. Peter the scaly (Colombia) vs. I love Juan Querendón
This is the amusing story of a man who is not the typical heartthrob, but a scoundrel who runs away from his native village because of a love problem. Then, he meets the woman of his life. In Mexico it was aired in 2007, while in Colombia it was broadcast in 2001.
3. The Success of the Pells (Argentina) vs. The successful ones Perez
The telenovela stars a couple of journalists who present an important news program. Everything goes well, until, from one day to the next, circumstances change the situation. The Argentine production began broadcasting in 2008, while the Mexican version aired in 2009, having been recorded in Mexico and Argentina.
4. Coffee with a woman’s aroma (Colombia) vs. distilling love
In the original version, everything takes place in the Colombian coffee environment. A beautiful young woman arrives at one of the most important farms in the country to work harvesting coffee, but falls in love with the farmer’s son. In the Mexican adaptation, the story takes place on an agave plantation, the plant from which tequila is made.
5. My fat belle (Venezuela) vs. full of love
Both soap operas deal with the difficulties that a sweet girl has to face in order to find happiness, one of them being overweight. In Venezuela, it started airing in 2002, while the Mexican adaptation aired in 2010.
6. Betty the ugly (Colombia) vs. the most beautiful ugly
While the Colombian telenovela aired in 1999, the Mexican version was broadcast seven years later. The two tell the story of a very intelligent and well-prepared young woman who starts working in a business organization in the world of fashion. The only problem is her appearance. In its country of origin and in all where it was shown, the production was a resounding success. The Mexican version was not far behind, as it was considered the best telenovela of 2006.
7. ugly duckling (Argentina) vs. dare to dream
The soap opera, originally intended for a teenage audience, dealt with the misadventures of a girl who is forced to change towns and schools, where she makes new friends and “enemies”. In Argentina it was a complete success. In Mexico it had a great impact, both among young people and adults.
8. In Eva’s tacos (Colombia) vs. For her… I’m Eva
The story narrates the crazy things that an executive commits for his company, including changing his gender, pretending to be a woman. In the midst of all this, he meets the love of his life. The Colombian soap opera was released in 2006, while in Mexico it was shown six years later, with a great cast.
9. Burning Passions (Colombia) vs. fire in the blood
Full of intrigue and romance, the soap opera tells the story of three men determined to avenge their younger sister. By putting the plan into practice, the three surrender to the beauty of the Elizondo sisters. The Colombian version featured artists from several Latin countries. In Mexico, the adaptation was produced five years later.
10. The Farm (Chile) vs. love has arrived
In 2014, the Chilean soap opera was aired, which tells a love story set in the countryside. The Mexican version was recorded in 2016, in California, and touches on themes such as the emigration of Mexicans to the United States.
