10 Dangerous animals we usually think are cute and helpless

During the process of evolution, animals have developed different strategies to protect themselves. Some have learned to run away from risky situations, others try to imitate dangerous predators, and still others have developed friendly and harmless appearances. Who would have thought that some lemurs (“slow loris”) are poisonous and that the black-footed wildcat is the most dangerous species of felines?

we, from awesome.club, we are sure that looks are really deceiving and we cannot underestimate animals under any circumstances: some “harmless” animals can be dangerous even for humans. Check out!

1. Manual

This little member of the feline family looks very cute and harmless at first glance. He is quite reserved and independent, so he prefers to live alone and find a mate only during mating.

Such a lifestyle has an impact on Manul’s personality. He becomes quite aggressive when someone invades his territory.🇧🇷 The fangs are almost 3 times the size of a normal cat and he can easily chew the bones of a hare. These animals also attack people, so they cannot be tamed.

2. Honey Badger

The main characteristic of honey badgers is that they are fearless. This little animal can face a leopard or a lion and its immune system is so resistant that it can withstand small doses of snake venom. Badgers have a very unique skin: it is so strong and thick that it cannot easily be penetrated by a predator’s teeth, an arrow, or even a machete. The powerful jaw of these animals and their sharp teeth allow them to eat the prey along with the spine and skull.

3. Black-footed wildcat

The black-footed wildcat is considered one of the most dangerous “cats” in the world. Although its weight is only 1.5 kg, it can hunt much larger animals. It is able to travel up to about 20 km looking for its prey. Hunt all night, even in adverse weather conditions🇧🇷 On average, this predator kills about 14 smaller animals in one hunt.

4. Ermine

The stoat is a rather small but very aggressive animal in the weasel group. It is an excellent swimmer, climbs trees, runs a lot and is able to walk up to 15 km. It weighs on average 70g, but can defeat larger prey. Ermine can kill a hare with just one bite to the back of the head🇧🇷 Often, these animals do not hunt out of hunger, but as entertainment. In the latter case, the carcass is left somewhere or buried for a day of need.

5. Desert Cat

The desert cat lives in deserts devoid of any vegetation, where in summer temperatures can reach up to 55º C and the sand can heat up to 80º C. This animal can live for a long time without water and the victims are any animals it comes across.🇧🇷 They can be mammals, small rodents, lizards, insects and even poisonous snakes (horned viper). When hunting, it is capable of reaching a speed of up to 40 km/h and can travel more than 10 km in search of its prey.

6. Rabbit

7. Lemur “slow loris”

The lemur known as “slow loris” is one of the few venomous mammals. In its front paws there are glands that release toxic substances. They exist primarily to scare away parasites and predators. The released venom causes suffocation not only in small animals but also in humans.🇧🇷 Before an attack, this lemur licks the glands so that its teeth are coated in venom. That way, the toxins will more easily penetrate the victim.

8. Platypus

Male platypuses have venomous spurs on their hind legs, which produce a cocktail of toxins. Males use the spurs during fights against other males to mate with a female. With the help of toxic substances, the animal also defends itself from predators such as wild dingo dogs.🇧🇷 For humans, the venom is not lethal, but it can cause swelling and headaches.

9. Focus

Seals are dangerous not only to small mammals and fish, but also to humans. In late February and early March, females come out of the water with their young. To protect their spawn, they can attack anyone they come across, including fishermen who are in the middle of the way or people walking along the beach. Seals also have the characteristic of unmotivated aggression; that is, as a form of entertainment, they can attack dolphins and penguins.

10. Sea otter

Bonus: Hippos and Elephants

Hippos are the most dangerous animals on the African continent. They like to graze in the fields, harming crops and attacking farmers. Female hippos and their babies jump on boats that are passing by.🇧🇷 Scientists at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands estimate that between 1997 and 2008, there were 4,493 cases of hippopotamus attacks on people in Kenya alone.

The total number of victims of elephant attacks reaches more than 400 per year. Most of the time, the animals attacked farmers who farmed along the migration path of these giants.🇧🇷 Males are especially dangerous during the mating season (musth), making them very aggressive and sensitive. This period lasts about 60 days and the thugs are capable of taking down whoever (or whatever) is in front when they are looking for a “girlfriend”.
