10 Common Bathing Habits That Are Unhealthy and Should Be Avoided

By reading the title of this post, you, dear reader, must be wondering what you could be doing wrong during the shower, right? In fact, there are a number of problems that can occur, such as using soaps and scrubs that can end up damaging your skin; not changing the sponge frequently; not moisturize the skin, among others. As taking a shower is considered extremely simple and personal, we are rarely taught what attitudes can be harmful and what good habits we should acquire.

At the awesome.club we found some mistakes that many people make every day and we want to share them with you!

1. Wash your face

It seems like it’s very appropriate to wash your face when you’re in the shower, but in reality, it’s not good for your skin. Most people shower with hot water and, in general, the temperature is much higher than indicated for this. The skin in this area is very sensitive, so it’s best to use lukewarm water to avoid damaging it.

2. Not washing your feet

Maybe it seems to you that washing your feet is something totally unnecessary, because you’re already with them in the water during the bath. Just because they’re wet doesn’t mean they’re clean. Our feet come into contact with all kinds of dirt when we walk and sweat. They do a great job for us and take us everywhere, so take good care of them and give them proper hygiene. After all, they deserve it!

3. Not replacing the vegetable sponge regularly

4. Using the wrong soap dish

If you use bar soap, check where you put it after each use. Soap dishes with slots are not the best option for the same reason as before: bacteria and fungi can grow excessively in them, as they find favorable environments to multiply. A spiked soap dish is a better option. In addition, it will prevent the soap from getting wet, which is a great advantage as it prevents it from melting.

5. Use scented liquid soaps

6. Using old razor blades

Another bad habit many of us have is using a razor until it becomes useless. Do you remember those old dishes and sponges that accumulate in the house and no one wants to use them anymore? Well, razor blades are no different from them. They’re actually worse, because if the razor isn’t sharp enough, it will leave lots of small cuts that you won’t even notice. They may be tiny to be noticed, but they are big enough to become a gateway for bacteria and infections.

7. Leaving your razor in the shower

The reason why you shouldn’t leave your razor in the shower is the same as we mentioned in the previous points. Fungi and bacteria love any warm, humid environment. If you really want to store your razor in the shower, find a place where you can hang it up so it dries completely after each use.

8. Wash your hair every day

9. Not showering after exercising

We mentioned that bacteria prefer warm, moist conditions, right? Well, sweat does both and the microbes will just feel great under those conditions. It’s good to stay in shape, but it’s probably not impossible to find a few minutes to do personal hygiene after exercising. You will feel much better and your smell will definitely not bother anyone.

10. Ignoring skin hydration with suitable creams

That’s right, man, you can pretend you’ll never use a moisturizer because that’s “women only,” but you’re not. It’s not just for women, it’s for skin in general, as this type of product prevents dryness. It’s a good idea to use moisturizing creams right after taking a shower, as warm skin absorbs the product a little better. In addition, it replaces the moisture that we lose during those very hot showers.
