10 Brazilian Actors Who Looked Almost Identical to Characters Based on Real People

It is part of the actors’ lives to prepare for each role, participating in laboratories and rehearsing daily to perform their performance in the best way. In some cases, the process is even more complex, as when actors play someone who really existed, so they need to study mannerisms, ways of speaking and walking, in addition to all characterization to bring the actor closer to the person he represents.

Elis Regina is an icon of Brazilian music; her story was told in the movie named after her, and also in the Rede Globo miniseries, Elis — Viver É Melhor que Sonhar. Who gave life to the singer was Andreia Horta, who in addition to being very similar, also knew how to perform Elis’s mannerisms very well. For her performance, the actress received the Kikito for Best Actress at the Gramado Festival.

Larissa Maciel gave life to Maysa in the miniseries Maysa — Quando Fala o Coração. The actress, who bears a great resemblance to the singer, was selected after auditions with more than 200 actresses. To play Maysa, she read the singer’s diary several times, in addition to seeing everything that had been published about her in the press. The efforts, therefore, seem to have yielded good results!

Babu Santana went through a long process to play Tim Maia: the actor was hired in 2011, but the film was only shot in 2013 and released the following year. During the study period, he not only rehearsed mannerisms, but also needed to gain 20 kg.

Daniel de Oliveira was chosen to play Cazuza in cinemas, and for that, he tried to get closer to the singer’s experiences: “I rented an apartment in Leblon and was ‘hospitalized’ there. I would listen to his songs, go around the places that Cazuza frequented and meet people close to him too”.

Thiago Mendonça’s choice to play Renato Russo was somewhat different: he was on television when Dado Villa-Lobos’ wife saw him and found the perfect guy to play Renato from Somos So Jovens. The actor spent three months immersed in the singer’s universe to be able to imitate each gesture in the best possible way.

Shortly before being called to be Erasmo Carlos in Minha Fama de Mau, Chay Suede had already thought about this possibility, after taking a picture with the singer. To live Tremendão, the actor read the biography with the same name as the film and also listened to many recordings.

To play the older Paulo Coelho, actor Júlio Andrade had to undergo six hours of makeup, in addition to wearing a mask that weighed 5 kg.
