10 Answers to Very Weird Questions

What would happen if you didn’t shower for a year? And without speaking? What if the Earth stopped rotating? Obviously, things like this are unlikely to happen, but many think about this kind of crazy hypothesis.

O awesome.club chose 10 extraordinary situations and brought what their results would be to the curious on duty, just like us.

1. What would happen if you were silent for a year?

It would be challenging for the average person not to speak for a whole year. But if, for some reason, one firmly decides to keep silent during this time, it will not harm themselves so much. The person won’t forget how to talk, and your facial muscles won’t atrophy because they’ll be working every day: while you eat, drink, brush your teeth and express emotions. In one expert’s assessment, such an experience could lead to mild voice control problems, but the vocal cords would not be damaged — they would just be a little atrophied.

2. What would happen if someone went a year without bathing?

A year of bathing won’t cause any big problems and, of course, the result of the experience won’t please anyone around you: imagine the smell that the accumulation of bacteria and dead skin will produce? There will be breakouts, acne, dandruff and bottoms, as well as an increased risk of infections, even from minor cuts. Also, when you take the first bath after so long, the skin will not return to normal quickly. This will take a week or so.

3. What would happen if the Earth stopped?

The Earth spins at 1,600 km per hour, but we don’t even notice it. But what if, by a surreal phenomenon, it suddenly stopped? Even if this option is almost impossible, it would cause a major catastrophe.

Buildings, trees, automobiles: all the objects around us would fly to the west, and the winds would blow with terrible force just by the action of inertia. There would be tsunamis higher than mountains, earthquakes, super volcano eruptions, and the ocean would destroy everything. Humanity would experience an apocalypse. On both sides of the Earth, for six months, darkness would reign. It is unlikely that anyone could survive, but if they did, their only option would be life at the point between the two hemispheres.

4. What would happen if Google stopped working?

As of December 2020, Google services did not work for approximately 40 minutes. More recently, in June 2021, a one-hour outage in the cloud computing infrastructure caused several points on the Internet to go down. And what would be the effects of longer-lasting problems on an essential service like this? Huge losses would occur, not only at Google itself, but also among all the companies and users in the world that depend on its services. Of course, the number of phone calls and SMS messages would increase, and the use of other survey sites would also grow significantly — if anyone even remembers what the other survey sites are…

5. What would happen if all people lived 100 years?

If each person lived longer, reaching the age of 100, this would greatly change society. For example, universities and schools would be equally suited to 18 and 80 year olds. There would be more advertising aimed at the elderly, but consumption would not rise dramatically: 85-year-olds are not interested in the new fashion sneakers in the same way as young people, for example.

Raising children would no longer be an issue that occupied much of adult life and, among older people, the importance of friendly relationships and self-fulfillment would increase.

6. What would happen if someone drank only soda instead of water?

Imagine that you replace water with soda every day. Obviously, this would not be a good idea. But what would happen, exactly? First, the acid contained in the drink would start to destroy the enamel on your teeth, and there would be a considerable increase in cavities that would be caused by harmful bacteria. With each can of soda, you would get 46 grams of sugar and your body would keep asking for more.

By replacing all drinks with soda, every day you would consume 5,432 more calories, which is like eating two pizzas on top of your usual diet. Surely that would cause obesity. Also, there is a lot of corn syrup in sodas, which contains a lot of fructose, and our body does not absorb it well. This can lead to liver obesity and therefore cardiovascular disease.

7. How would your body react if you moved to Mars?

Living on Mars would not be good for a human’s health. Due to the low severity, health problems of all kinds would arise, including bone (bone integrity and recovery in case of fracture) and cardiovascular (thinning of the walls of vessels and arteries, in addition to the weakening of the heart muscle, resulting in problems circulatory). Not to mention the problems related to the immune system and the constant possibility of developing cancer from direct and indirect exposure to radiation.

8. What would happen if you had a clone?

Scientists have cloned animals, including primates, but what would happen if a person cloned himself? Contrary to the assumptions of science fiction movies, the clone would not be exactly like this person, because even if the appearance depends on the genes, it is also influenced by the surroundings of the uterus. Also, a clone can have a completely different character, as it will be influenced by social experience and upbringing — and that’s totally personal. Unfortunately, your clone would not be in optimal health, judging by the cloned animals: many of them have brain dysfunction, heart, liver and immune system problems.

9. What would happen if people could move at the speed of light?

Of course, this is impossible, but imagine that a person were able to run at almost the speed of light: for him, time would pass more slowly than for an immobile person. It would also change the field of vision, as the world would be seen through a kind of long, dark tunnel. Stars ahead would appear blue, and stars behind would appear red. And, after reaching a certain speed, a person would only see darkness, because the wavelength of light reaching the eyes would be outside the visible spectrum.

10. What if dinosaurs hadn’t gone extinct?

Let’s imagine that, 65 million years ago, a meteor flew past the Earth, and it didn’t even disturb the dinosaurs. They would go on living their lives, but mammals, which at that time were at the bottom of the food chain, probably couldn’t have developed much further than rodents, since when dinosaurs went extinct, many mammal species evolved. Then came primates and, in millions of years, humans.

But, if the catastrophe had not happened and the dinosaurs had continued to inhabit the Planet, most likely, the mammals would continue to be small creatures that could not withstand the competition with the huge dinosaurs. And, as a result, it is unlikely that you were reading this article right now.
