10 Actors Who Are Ashamed Of Some Famous Movie Roles

Not many people know, but some actors aren’t big fans of the characters they’ve played in some of their most famous movies. The reasons are diverse: they didn’t know the script for the feature films well and then got disappointed; they didn’t like their own acting or even did a certain role just for money and fame.

O awesome.club prepared a list of Hollywood stars who are ashamed of some of the roles they played. Follow:

1. Harrison Ford — “Star Wars”

Harrison Ford has two iconic characters in cult cinema, but for him Indiana Jones is the best. Although Han Solo is the character who brought him worldwide fame, he doesn’t like the role because he considers him “dumb as a stump”, and therefore, a minor character.

After the movie “The Empire Strikes Back”, Harrison begged Lucas to kill Solo (and his wish finally came true in Episode VII). During the Return of the Jedi press conference, Ford said he was happy to see the character’s suit one last time.

2. Matt Damon — “The Bourne Ultimatum”

Matt Damon did an amazing job on the Bourne trilogy, but he didn’t like Bourne Endgame very much. He believes screenwriter Tony Gilroy is to blame for the lackluster perception. “The script was unintelligible to me. I thought that my role in this film was going to represent the end of my career. It was horrible and very strange,” the actor once admitted.

IMDb Rating (movie rating from one to 10) — 8

3. Halle Berry — “Catwoman”

When Halle Berry was given the opportunity to play Catwoman, the whole world was excited, but audiences were disappointed with the end result. However, Berry accepted her failure fully, and upon accepting the Golden Raspberry (a sort of anti-Oscar awarded to the worst films) she declared: “I want to thank Warner Bros. for this movie. It was all my career needed — to fall from the top to the bottom.”

4. George Clooney — “Batman and Robin”

George Clooney himself criticizes himself for certain roles and constantly apologizes for his performance as Batman. He believes he was the worst Batman in history and critics agree with him. “I really believed I had destroyed the franchise. At the time, I thought this role would benefit my career. But it all turned out very differently than planned,” he admitted. That failure helped Clooney choose roles more wisely, which led to him collecting several Academy Award nominations.

5. Sarah Jessica Parker — “Sex and the City 2”

Despite stars such as Penélope Cruz, Miley Cyrus, Heidi Klum and Liza Minnelli being in attendance, the film was extremely poorly received by critics. And fans weren’t as excited about “Sex and the City 2” as they were about the series either. Parker admitted, “I understand where we fell short. But I also understand how much money this movie made for us.”

6. Robert Pattinson — “Twilight”

Robert Pattinson is not a big fan of “Twilight”, just as he doesn’t understand how everyone likes Edward, his character in the franchise, so much. In an interview, he said, “the more carefully I read the script, the more I hated this guy. Also, he’s a 108-year-old virgin, and obviously that has some issues.”

7. Cher — “Burlesque”

In “Burlesque,” Cher plays a strong-willed woman and leader of a group of dancers, who finds a talented young woman and teaches her everything she knows. Cher had high hopes for the script. But later, in an interview, she said that she felt that the fault of the film not living up to expectations lay with the director, Steve Antin. She understands that her character turned out to be boring, incomplete and disappointed in not having a love story. “This movie could have been so much better. I was sad that it wasn’t a good movie,” said the actress and singer.

8. Ben Affleck — “Daredevil”

Ben Affleck is very ashamed of his role in “Daredevil”. The actor thinks that his performance was not convincing and that he failed to explore the character in depth. At the same time, he believes he has corrected his superhero fiasco by acting as Bruce Wayne, Batman. “I wanted to work on another film in this cinematic universe and do it right this time. I can’t stand the daredevil” he declared. However, not everything was so bad: it was in the recording studio of this film that he met the woman who would become his future wife, Jennifer Garner. The marriage lasted 13 years, and the couple had three children.

9. Will Smith — “After Earth”

Will Smith called the 2013 sci-fi film After Earth, which he starred in alongside his son Jaden, the “most painful failure” of his career. The actor admitted that the fiasco of “The Crazy Adventures of James West” was less difficult for him, since the aforementioned After Earth had the participation of his son – who was invited by Will himself.

10. Sean Connery — James Bond
