You are what you say, but above all what you do

Thinking that your beliefs and values define you is very good if your actions go in the same direction. What happens is that Sometimes your words and actions take different paths and everything remains good intentions.. You are more what you say than what you do. Think about it.

It’s no use boasting about being a good person if you don’t help others later. It doesn’t matter how clever you claim to be if you don’t do anything creative afterwards. Bragging about what you think you are is very easy, the difficult part is doing it. The obligatory question is why do you do it? What is the hidden motive behind what you confirm but do not demonstrate?

What you do has much more value than what you say you are going to do.

What you do defines you

No matter how much we express good intentions, what will speak about us is what we do.. Our actions will always weigh more than our words. However, the fact of believing otherwise says a lot about the way we relate to others, how we show ourselves and how we manipulate reality.

An example of this can be seen in those relationships that are fueled by promises that, many times, remain only in words. Swearing and perjuring that we will never leave that person we love so much, affirming that she is the only one or that we will always be there in the hardest moments… All of this, although it sounds very nice, may not come true at a certain moment. There are variables that we cannot control.

We may find someone we like more and then leave our partner. Maybe we end up cheating on her with someone else or maybe, in the most difficult moments we are not able to deal with the pressure and choose to run away. In this way, our partner will be disappointed and will not even recognize us because he believed in everything we had told him we were and were going to do.

“It doesn’t matter what you say or how you justify yourself; You are what you do. Your behaviors speak for you, they give you away, they point out you.”

-Walter Riso-

In some ways, we have given words great power. That of retaining someone by our side, of manipulating reality as we please and of affirming what we really are not. However, when push comes to shove, The words can fall away and what remains are the actions we have carried out that truly define who we are.

Good intentions that camouflage great fears

The greatest danger that comes with affirming such clear-cut truths about ourselves is that, even though they fade away at a certain moment, we can end up believing in them. However, instead of confirming them with actions, we stay there, still, as if it were a comfort zone. In essence, this may be so because Sometimes good intentions are fraught with deep fears.

Let’s not forget that those who affirm their superiority through their mouths are trying to camouflage insecurities and fears that not even they themselves want to see. It’s natural. Looking our fears in the face is terrifying.. The easy thing is to turn your back on them and pretend they were not there. Even though over time they become an increasingly heavy burden.

This will not allow us to live in a calm, positive and coherent way. Well There will be no congruence between what we think, feel and do. In this way, it will be impossible to find and experience the long-awaited vital balance.

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say and what you do are in harmony.”

-Mahatma Gandhi-

Thus, we are not better because we believe that our way of thinking is ideal, nor because we simply claim to be so. Our actions can contradict our words and make us look like liars. Let’s not forget that nothing defines us better than our actions.

Maybe the point is to do more and talk less or at least keep what we say…
