Why sleeping with blankets is a good option, even on hot nights

It’s unbelievable how often we spend our nights tossing and turning, and the only thing that can help is having something to cover us up with. It seems that sheets or blankets have a magical power and, when they rest on us, we fall asleep faster. Even on hot nights it’s no different. There are a few reasons why we’re usually so attached to them, and once you know why it all makes a lot more sense.

We, from awesome.club, we just found out why we use our sheets and blankets and we’re going to share it with you, the reader. Follow!

Act in regulating body temperature

We are warm-blooded creatures, which means our body is responsible for regulating our internal temperature, and this is what helps us stay warm. However, when we sleep soundly, all our control is gone — that’s when we look for help with things around us. It’s sheets, duvets and blankets that help our body adjust and maintain the temperature we need.

They are an essential part of our sleep routine.

We are also “creatures of habit” and this has a huge impact on why we need our blankets. Even if it doesn’t necessarily mean we feel safe, we’ve been using blankets our whole lives and it’s been engraved in our routine ever since. When we go to bed and cover ourselves with a blanket, our body receives a signal that it’s time to sleep.

Decrease feelings of stress and anxiety

Blankets create a microclimate: a barrier in which the temperature doesn’t change much. They collaborate so that the skin and the surrounding factors that cool our body do not affect us as much. Thus, we fall asleep faster and have a better and less disturbed sleep.

They make us feel safe and secure

Blankets trigger our sense of security, because the most common fear we had as children was the dark. Then, when that feeling started, we would cover ourselves completely. It was our magical escape that fought our fear and made us feel protected. That feeling of security still stays with us when we’re under our blankets.

Do you sleep covered up even if it’s hot? Does it help you fall asleep faster? Comment!
