If one day your girlfriend asks you not to sit on her bed, don’t be offended. Especially if you’ve crossed the city and intend to go to bed in your worn-out clothes during the day. As we can never be absolutely sure where we pull up, and as the city is full of very dirty places, it’s important to avoid the risk of bringing germs and bacteria into our bed.
O awesome.club thinks that health and well-being always come first. Therefore, we want you to understand the importance of changing clothes before going to bed.
Bacteria stick to the body like glue
According to Philip Tierno, director of Microbiology and Immunology at New York University, bacteria can live for weeks or even months on our clothes. Philip adds that even new clothes can be contaminated by germs, so it’s always a good idea to take off what you wear during the day before going to bed. What’s more, this rule doesn’t just apply to you, but to your guests.
Lying in bed with the clothes we wear on the street can cause infections, skin problems, acne or bring fleas
One of the reasons that can cause acne on the back and chest is greasy clothes (which accumulate dirt from the street and the office), sweat and dead skin. In general, the human body sheds approximately half a million skin cells and about a liter of sweat daily. That is, your bed may be the main responsible for all this dirt ending up on you.
The clothes go through the most varied places
Take a moment and think about all the places you and your clothes have touched today: subway or bus seat, office chair, bar chair, elevator walls, park bench, and more. Now think about how many people have been through the same places before you. Would you invite all of them to your house? When you start to think about it, you quickly realize that undressing before going to bed is a great idea.
Your bed is a comfort and safety zone
It’s very important that you feel comfortable wrapping yourself in the blanket and hugging your pillow, because in addition to being a nice place, the bed is the place to recharge. Harvard’s Division of Sleep Medicine recommends, for example, that people not work in bed and spend more time with friends in the kitchen or living room. In this way, the brain begins to relate the bed to relaxation and comfort, which also helps a lot to balance sleep.
