Why Drinking Coffee Can Make You Feel Drowsy

A lot of people can’t start their day without a cup of coffee in the morning. And a hot cup of coffee can really help wake you up. Caffeine is a stimulant that supposedly keeps us awake. But, if you feel like taking a nap right after your coffee, know that this is relatively normal. Many people feel drowsy after drinking this beverage, even when it’s not decaffeinated.

We, from awesome.club, we were surprised to find that coffee can help you sleep better. And we searched the internet to find out the reasons behind it all.

1. Caffeine does not interfere with sleep

If you’re a coffee lover, we’ve got good news: a late-night cup won’t affect your sleep. A group of researchers came to the conclusion that taking the drink up to four hours before going to bed does not make anyone have insomnia. 785 volunteers were monitored for about a week using pulse sensors and sleep diaries. The results were surprising: caffeine did not interfere with these people’s sleep.

2. Coffee can make you feel tired

Have you ever felt the need to go to the bathroom after drinking coffee? This happens because caffeine acts as a diuretic. When your body loses fluids, it has the effect of dehydration, which in turn can make you feel tired and drowsy.

3. Can lower blood glucose levels

4. The fungi present in coffee can cause fatigue

As gross as it sounds, when you’re having a cup of coffee, you’re probably drinking a very moldy brew. Studies have shown that most grains are contaminated with mold and their toxins can make you feel drowsy and exhausted.

5. Your body can turn stress into drowsiness

Have you ever noticed that a cup of coffee can make you nervous? That’s because consuming the drink doubles the levels of stress hormones in the body, even if you drink the same amount every day. And when the initial stress response wears off, you may feel the need to sleep to process the experience, as drowsiness and fatigue are your body’s natural ways of reacting to stress.

Do you usually drink coffee before going to bed? Have you noticed if it affects your sleep?
