According to a 2006 study by researchers at Lafayette University and Johns Hopkins University (USA), left-handers with higher education earn between 10% and 15% more than their right-handed counterparts. Left-handed people make up almost 10% of the global population. Celebrities like Leonardo da Vinci, Bill Gates, Aristotle and Marie Curie (a Polish-French scientist who was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize) were left-handed.
O awesome.club discovered some surprising data about lefties, making them very special people indeed.
A genius is more likely to be left-handed
Lefties are more likely to be geniuses. No wonder Albert Einstein was left-handed. While 10% of the total population is left-handed; 20% of all members of MENSA, the oldest and largest society for people with high intelligence, are left-handed.
Lefties are the best artists
The American Journal of Psychology published research that suggests that left-handed people have an advantage when it comes to creativity. The results showed that they are better at exploring various solutions to use on a problem. A study conducted by the Left-handed Club (a pro-left-handed group dedicated to research on left-handed people) of more than 2,000 left-handed, right-handed and ambidextrous participants found that the former tend to choose careers related to art, music, sports and information technology rather than studying at a higher level.
Have advantages in sports
Lefties have an advantage in individual sports like tennis, boxing and badminton — one of the greatest players of all time, Spaniard Rafael Nadal (pictured right) is left-handed. In one of his left-handed books, linguist Rik Smits explains that athletes often train against right-handed opponents. So, when players face a left-handed opponent, they are not prepared, while left-handers are, they are prepared to face right-handed people.
are good fighters
In a French study carried out in 2005, researchers found that in peaceful societies lefties constituted almost 3% of the population, while their number rose to 27% in war zones. Scientists postulate that the reason behind this is that they have a physical advantage over righties due to their unexpected attack from the left.
