Perhaps the main attraction in Bangor, Maine, is King’s home. The writer and his wife bought it in the 1980s and have spent a lot of time there since then. In winter, they usually go to Florida, a much warmer state.

From the outside, King’s home looks like a cursed mansion from a classic horror movie. The old and gloomy house, built in 1870, is behind a black gate with wrought iron dragons and bats. Fans of the author simply cannot pass by without taking at least one photo.

At first, the house was normal and didn’t have that horror feel. The bats, dragons and spiders at the entrance were placed by the writer himself. He regretted it, after all it attracts a lot of tourists.

Inside, the mansion is bigger than it looks: it has six bedrooms and five bathrooms, and Stephen’s office is at the back. From the street, the house doesn’t look that big. But when we see an image from above, from a satellite, we understand that it is a real mansion.

People can walk around the cemetery without any problems. Doors are open from 9 am to 4 pm. Many movie fans visit Mount Hope with their animals to take pictures.

Tiny Bangor, where King lives, has a population of 33,000. Of course, everyone knows that its most illustrious resident is the writer. You can find it in the supermarket or walking in the park. Older people still remember that in the 1990s he coached a children’s basketball team.

Bangor residents have a lot to be thankful for with their famous neighbor. Along with his wife, King, now the owner of a large fortune, makes large donations to the city, mainly helping libraries and hospitals. He finances the baseball stadium and is one of the owners of the local radio station.
