This model, which can have different spellings, such as espadrilles and spadrilles, has as its greatest feature the heel made of jute or rope. They can feature the conventional ankle clasp or ribbons to tie around the shin, and they can also be made of canvas.

Flávia indicates that due to the informality of this model, it may not be the best option for formal environments, such as the work environment for example. She even adds that the ribbons tied together can give the impression of thicker shins.
