This is the new Zara megastore in Madrid: fitting rooms that are reserved with your mobile phone and geolocated garments

It is one of the largest spaces of the firm, with more than 7,700 square meters on four floors of the emblematic building in Madrid's Plaza de España and with a space that will connect with two more Inditex firms, Zara Home and Stradivariuswhich seek to offer an emotional experience with a sustainable concept.

This Thursday, Zara presented its most advanced commercial project in the España Building, in front of the renovated Plaza de España, a tourist and commercial hub that the firm values, in which it has created an interior in which fashion, technology and sustainability go hand in hand.

In the new megastore, technology prevails to “encourage client autonomy” that you will live the purchase as an experience.

The immense 15 meter high shop windows are an eye-catcher and as soon as you enter A QR code invites us to enter a purchasing experience where technology is present throughout the entire process, although the most analog customers will always count on the store staff to make their purchases.

The code displays a map that will help locate the product, if it has previously been seen on the web or through the app; You will also discover if there are new collections and with which you can reserve in advance, also by phone, one of the almost 50 testers, without standing in the traditional line.

“The customer arrives more and more informed and knowing what they want,” say company sources during the tour, which is why they want to give them “greater autonomy to speed up their search or order the size they need.”

With that intention, they have enabled devices where you can again scan the garment label with a QR code, pay without having to go through the checkout with the Pay&Go service, and where to remove the alarm that the products incorporate.

The returns point also incorporates technology, without having to wait behind the counter, as well as the online purchase collection service, which has a box recycling point next door.

Precisely, among the new features, The buyer will be offered the possibility of receiving their order in recycled boxes.

Although the Galician fashion brand has been closing some of its stores, the increase in online sales does not seem to entail wasting its presence in the commercial hubs of the big cities.

According to the company, “the implementation of these new functionalities is one more step in the integration of stores and 'online' of the Inditex group”, to ensure that the customer has a new relationship experience with fashion and the brand.

In this sense, they have used a selection of reused materials such as acoustic cellulose wall and ceiling covering with a proportion of 75% recycled material; textured microcements, as well as other natural materials such as oak wood.

But in addition, they use a temperature control that adjusts depending on occupancy and sunlight, and the speed of the escalators is also programmed to reduce spending.

An interior stripped of visible ornaments, but designed to provide “warmth to the client”, with carpets and “showroom” spaces, in footwear and accessories, with wide hallways where the garments are the protagonists.

Fashion for women, men and children, a beauty space and the “showroom” of the lingerie collection, available since 2020 only through the website, is another novelty.

With this new Zara store, the Inditex group takes a giant step in its strategy of adding large and better technologically equipped establishments.
