And is it really the kind of relationship you want?

Not all relationships are meant to last forever. While some loves last until the end of life, others are more like a bridge that connects you to different people and experiences.

We know that there are different types of relationships. The type of relationship depends on many things — that is, the people in it, their experiences so far, their characteristics, etc.

After careful research, we present the 11 types of relationships. Are you eager to find out what your relationship is? Read on and see which of these fits yours:

1. The independent relationship

Being independent is not a bad quality. However, being in a committed relationship requires commitment and sacrifices. Independence is not the quality you are looking to show.

Of course, you and your partner need to be independent to a degree that allows you both to function without the other, but complete independence in the relationship is never a good sign.

2. The Co-Dependent Relationship

In a codependent relationship, you and your partner cannot function without each other. As mentioned earlier, independence is a quality that everyone should possess.

Not being able to stay away from your partner can cause problems in other areas of your lifesuch as your social life and your relationships with your friends and family.

3. The dominant/submissive relationship

A relationship where you control your partner or he/she controls you is never a good thing. This shows a lack of independence, understanding and trust. And we all know that all these qualities are the foundation for a healthy relationship.

4. The Open Relationship

Open relationships allow you and your partner to bond with others outside of the relationship.

If you and your partner are both part of this type of relationship, chances are one or both of you are not ready to be emotionally involved in the relationship.

5. The ever-changing relationship

This is the kind of relationship where the couple tries to adjust to each other, changing their routines, interests, styles, hobbies and even friends. In simple words, they switch to partner.

No two people on earth are alike, which is why relationships require commitment and acceptance. A relationship is no place for you to change your whole personality just for someone else to like you!

6. The turbulent relationship

This is the relationship in which the couple is attracted to each other and even, most of the time, truly loves each other. But there is compromise and understanding.

The couple seems to have different opinions and interests that lead to different arguments and issues, but they still feel connected to each other.

7. The “just for now” relationship

This type of relationship consists of two people who are not looking for anything serious. They are looking for a partner who fits into their lives but is temporary, likely to adjust and heal after a breakup from a previous relationship.

8. The “best friends” relationship

This is a relationship where both are comfortable talking about everything and there is a lot of connection between them, but there is a lack of sexual intimacy.

Sex is an important part of every relationship, and a sexless relationship is bound to end at some point.

9. The sexual relationship

In contrast to the previous type, this type of relationship consists of two people who are clearly focused on sex and nothing deeper. There is no place for any deeper connection in this relationship.

10. The long-distance relationship

Everyone knows someone who is or has been in a long distance relationship. In most cases, they live in a time of despair because they are unable to see each other and communicate regularly as a couple who live close to each other.

This is a type of relationship that requires a lot of trust, acceptance, and commitment.

11. The truly compatible relationship

We saved the best for last! This is the perfect, healthy and genuine image of a relationship based on understanding, trust and love.

It consists of two people who are ready to make sacrifices for each other, but also don’t forget to take time for themselves. They are ready to love and respect without wanting anything in return.

This is the kind of relationship that we are all looking for. And luckily, many people have already found it.

Being in a relationship is no simple task, and not everyone is as ready as they look or think they are.

Before getting into a relationship, you first need to get to know yourself and your potential partner.
