The story of Bon Jovi and Dorothea, an example of how love doesn’t understand fame or money

John Francis Bongiovi Jr. is the real name of star Jon Bon Jovi, who has made more than one generation vibrate with his many hits. The singer met his great love when he was still very young. Her name is Dorothea Hurley, a woman he has known for over 40 years and with whom he has lived and lives a beautiful love story.

Bon Jovi has always kept away from the excesses and scandals that are common in the rock world, and although he spent a lot of time away from home in his youth, he always knew who the most important people in his life were.

The two began writing the first lyrics of this love story in 1980; they stayed together for three years and decided to separate. In 1984, after a big world tour with the band, Bon Jovi approached her, asked them to get back together, and she accepted.

There are inevitable things in life, and for Jon Bon Jovi one of them is love. Precisely for this reason, in 1989, he again made a proposal to Dorothea: he asked her to marry him. After covering more than 4,000 km, they got married in secret in the suggestive city of Las Vegas, on April 29th.

Almost 33 years have passed and they are still together. However, Bon Jovi admits to not being a saint. He went on to say that he flirted with the darker side of rock and missed out on great family moments, but made a point of saying he never had another woman or another family. He also said that Dorothea was always present in his life and always did his best to remain united.

The two never had a fight that made them think about breaking up, quite the opposite. They understood that the key to a good relationship is “mutual respect” and they realized that life is a path with ups and downs that we all need to go through. In an interview, he said the following to his beloved: “The obstacles on the path are the path itself”.

We see, therefore, that the two were not deceived by their fame. Bon Jovi sees the work of a musician as something that brings happiness and, at the same time, pays well. “It’s what I do, but not what I am. Yes, I write songs and I’m good at performing them. Only that”.

There is no doubt that the couple works as a team. The two decided they would grow up together, in every sense of the word. “If one falls, the other is there to help”, stated the singer.

On February 14, 2022 Bon Jovi posted a photo with his beloved Dorothea. The message could not have been clearer: “My eternal girlfriend”.

She could never imagine that by letting him copy an answer on a test she would be contributing to the beginning of a beautiful love story, which also has the participation of four children. Time has passed, but love seems to remain just as strong.
