Born in East London, London, Angela Lansbury immigrated to the United States with her family during World War II. From very early on, in her childhood, she was fond of books, theater and cinema. It was in New York that she began to cultivate her talent in performance. After moving to Los Angeles, Lansbury signed a contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer. Subsequently, she participated in 13 films from that studio. Unlike many of her peers, her rise was smooth and relatively easy.

Lansbury was just 19 when she married actor Richard Cromwell in 1945. But they split less than a year later. Initially, the couple did not reveal the reasons for their divorce, but she admitted the truth a few years later.

Despite the failure of the first marriage, Lansbury was able to feel love again in her life. In 1949, she married English actor and producer Peter Shaw. Their marriage lasted for over five decades, which is a rarity in the Hollywood film industry. The couple were partners not only at work. They also shared a life together at home. As she noted, they were everything to each other, and that’s what made their marriage so enduring.

As the actress said, what made them a perfect couple was the same kind of energy they shared. For them, an unsolvable problem did not exist. Their love and dedication could serve as an example to their friends and colleagues.

Needless to say, after Shaw’s passing, Lansbury was heartbroken. The loss of her husband sent her into a depressive phase. As she said in an interview with CNN, she didn’t want to force herself to act like she was fine: “I just knew I had to wait, and the time would come when I would have to look to the surface again and find a way to heal. the wound inside my soul”.

Finally, after some time, she managed to gather the strength to go on. Knowing that her late husband would want her to continue, her wonderful smile returned.
