The physical evolution of 14 characters from the “Harry Potter” saga and how the actors are doing today

It’s been 20 years since the debut of the first production of the saga Harry Potter🇧🇷 With the movies, both the characters and the audience grew, but the physical changes of the actors were not noticeable to most viewers, so it’s worth remembering these big screen figures and how their roles evolved in history, as they were part of our childhood and won a place in our hearts.

Harry is the protagonist of the entire saga. He lives with his uncles, the Dursley family, but despite being related, they make his life virtually impossible. Luckily, on his 11th birthday, he is accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The actor who plays the character is Daniel Radcliffe, who at the beginning of the filming of the first film was 11 years old and at the premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2🇧🇷 he was 21, spending a total of 10 years of his life involved in this production.

Hermione barely entered Hogwarts and established a close friendship with Harry and Ron, becoming one of the main characters. She is always willing to help in solving any problem and, due to her intelligence and audacity, she has become one of the best witches in the school. Emma Watson is the actress in that role and, at the premiere of the first film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stonewas 10 years old, and at 20 signed the contract for the last production of the saga, in 2011.

Ron is the sixth child of the Weasley family and, like his brothers, also studied at Hogwarts. He is Harry’s best friend and a fearful boy, but willing to help his friends at all costs. The actor who gives life to the character is Rupert Grint, who at the beginning of the recordings was 12 years old and at the end of the whole saga he turned 23, being the oldest of the three protagonists.

Draco is the only child of the Malfoy family and belongs to Slytherin House. He is a character that stands out for his peculiar character of a naughty boy. With his faithful companions Crabbe and Goyle, he makes life even more difficult for Harry and his friends at school. The actor who played Draco was Tom Felton. He made his first film at 14 and in the last he was 24.

Severus was the Potions Master, Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher and headmaster of Hogwarts. Belongs to Slytherin House, he is a pretty strict docent, especially with Harry and Gryffindor House. Alan Rickman was the actor who brought this character to life. In the first film he was 55 years old and ended his contract at 65, in the feature Harry Porter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Sadly, to the sadness of fans, the actor passed away in 2016.

Hagrid is a semi-giant wizard, gamekeeper and Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts. He was assigned the task of reintroducing Harry Potter to the wizarding world, which strengthened his friendship with the boy. Actor Robbie Coltrane, made his first interpretation in the saga at the age of 51, and ended his participation in the film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2aged 61 years.

Neville Longbottom, Hogwarts student of Gryffindor House, was a wizard with a very shy and introverted personality, he also proved to be a great companion and ally of Potter. Matthew Lewis brought the character to life when he was 12 years old, in the first film, and by the end of the saga he was 22.

Ginny, the youngest sister of the Weasleys and the only girl in the family, was a student at Hogwarts where she was a member of Gryffindor House. Bonnie Wright made her first appearance at age 9 in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. One of the youngest actresses in the cast, in the last film, in 2011, was 20 years old.

Minerva is a Transfiguration teacher, one of the seven Animagi and head of Gryffindor House. Despite having a rude personality, she always seeks to educate and protect both her students and the entire faculty of the school. Maggie Smith played the character at age 67 in the first film, and in the last she was 77.

The teacher Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and a great friend and protector of Harry Potter, is one of the most powerful wizards in the entire saga. In the first two films, he was played by Richard Harris, an actor who was 72 years old at the premiere of the first film. Due to his death, from the third feature and until Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2the character was played by Michael Gambon, aged 64 to 71.

Fred and George are the twin brothers of Ron Weasley of Gryffindor House. Known for being playful, brilliant, and scouts on the Quidditch team. James and Oliver Phelps bring the characters in the saga to life, from the first production, at age 15, to the last, when they were already 25.

Dudley was Harry Potter’s cousin, son of Vernon and Petunia Dursley. He is a very spoiled boy who always does what he wants. Despite being related, in the presence of the parents it irritates Harry all the time. The actor behind the character was Harry Melling, who started the saga at age 11, and in the last film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2🇧🇷 had turned 20. The character was in only five of the eight productions of the saga.

Julie Walters is the actress who played the role of Molly Weasley, mother of the Weasley family. She participated in all the films and her character is characterized by being strict and affectionate, always concerned about the well-being of her children and family friends. In the first film of 2001, the actress was 51 years old and in the last one, 61.

Argo Filch is the caretaker of Hogwarts, a petty old man who is always with his cat, Madam Norris. One of his main tasks is to maintain order in the school corridors, in addition to trying to prevent students from getting involved in mischief. In the first movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stonein 2011, actor David Bradley was 59 years old, and at the end of the saga in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, turned 69.
