The love story of Thais Fersoza and Michel Teló proves that carnival love can be eternal

If you think carnival love doesn’t last, think about reconsidering. It’s just that Thais and Michel met, precisely, in the carnival box, in 2012. The actress and presenter was recording a soap opera, so she had a few days off. So, instead of traveling, she preferred to go to Sapucaí, to watch the samba school parades.

At the same time, Michel Teló had a busy schedule and was invited to make a surprise presentation in the box where Thais was. The song Ai Se Eu Te Pego was a real turning point in the singer’s career, who was performing every day in different cities, states and even countries.

Due to the success, he was invited to a presentation in a box in Rio de Janeiro: “I was very tired with the routine I lived and I almost didn’t go. It was 2 am, after a show in the interior of São Paulo, when I arrived at Sapucaí. In the midst of comings and goings and thousands of people, I literally bumped into the love of my life”, says Michel.

Thais was also very tired one day, but she decided to go to Sapucaí because she wanted to present Rio’s carnival to her sister, who was leaving the next day: “I went, really tired. We were there, playing, having fun and suddenly they announced that there was going to be a concert by Michel Teló. We think it’s really cool. We were on a staircase going down to the first floor when they announced the show. We decided to go back to the second floor to watch it, but when we got there, it was packed! I stayed on the sidelines, I didn’t see Michel, I didn’t watch the show, I just listened”, says Thais.

Thais says that at the end of the show, she and her sister decided to go to the bar to get something to drink. After that, they would go to the first floor, but halfway there was an unexpected encounter with Michel — and it wasn’t just any encounter.

“It was like a soap opera scene! He was coming and I was going. He was surrounded by photographers, that madness, everyone wanting to talk to him after the show, asking about the music… He was walking and looking back, talking to the press. And I was walking, also looking back, talking to my sister. Then when we crossed paths with each other, we bumped shoulders,” she reports.

Although the chances of a romance blossoming on a first date surrounded by professionals from the press interrupting at all times are low, Thais and Michel noticed that there was something more to that bump.

“During this collision, we looked at each other to apologize and it was once: ‘Hi!’ different. You know when you’re like, ‘Hmm, it’s not just a bump,’ that was it! It was a different touch, a different smell, it’s a look that you say: ‘THIS look is different’. I felt butterflies in my stomach right away”, reports Thais.

Photographers asked the singer and actress to pose together and, at first, she was concerned about the rumors that could be spread about them the other day. After thinking a bit, she ended up agreeing and making the images, which she now cherishes.

Thais says that, after that moment, each one went to one side to enjoy the party, but, eventually, they ended up meeting again. The second time they saw each other, Michel asked for Thais’ phone number, which he preferred not to give, believing that carnival romance didn’t have much future. However, on that occasion, a mutual friend, who was also in the cabin, called the singer and the actress to take a photo, which she posted on her social networks the next day, tagging the two.

Soon after, Michel reposted the photo tagging Thais, who found it a little strange: “I kept thinking: ‘Why is this man reposting the photo, tagging me…’ Among so many things that had happened at carnival, in his life at that moment, he went to repost precisely that photo?! I thought it was weird. But I thought, ‘Since he reposted it, I won’t seem unsympathetic. I’ll repost and tag him too,’” he says.

Before tagging Michel, Thais entered his profile to check if the account was official and realized that in addition to being the singer himself, he was already following her on the networks. The actress reciprocated and, when she pressed the follow button, she received a private message from the singer. “That’s when we started talking,” she says.

You’ve probably heard the saying: “Who wants to find a way. Those who don’t want to, find an excuse”. This other popular wisdom seems to fit perfectly into Thais and Michel’s routine, not only when they met but over the years.

It’s just that, two days after the carnival meeting, Michel went to Europe, on tour. But the conversation with Thais continued strong and strong, despite the time difference and the intense pace of work of the two. The actress says that they spent the early hours chatting via video: “As soon as I set foot in Brazil, the first thing I did was look for that woman who had already taken my heart”, recalls the singer.

The partnership between the two was established right at the beginning of the relationship: “When we started, I was traveling a lot and, even doing soap operas, she accompanied me. Taking care of me always, one taking care of the other. It’s good when we have someone who takes care of us, who loves us. I found this person”, recalls the singer.

Since then, Michel has spared no praise and has constantly declared himself to his beloved: “I think she is the most beautiful woman in the world. She’s my number, it’s just the way I like it! Besides being very talented at what she does. She is an amazing actress! What she takes to do like that, it’s impressive,” she says.

And since this love story started with a bump in a carnival, nothing fairer than celebrating all carnivals as a very special date. That’s why, since 2012, the couple has been going to Sapucaí to celebrate their enduring carnival love. The only exception was in 2014, when they toured Europe.

“The 2016 carnival was very special for us! We also passed on the Avenue, after four years together and we were pregnant for the first time, without anyone knowing. In 2017, we already had Melinda and we went to Avenida pregnant again, this time with Teodoro! We are there every year: firm and strong, to celebrate our love for Carnival, which is a love for life”, says Thais.

Even after so long, Thais is still surprised when she thinks about how she found her husband: “As an actress, I never imagined that I would find the love of my life, that I would marry someone I met like in a scene from novel. Many people say that carnival love doesn’t last… but love, when it’s love it lasts at carnival, at Christmas, at Easter, in summer, in winter, on New Year’s Eve”, she concludes.

Living an eternal relationship with his wife, Michel tells the secret of complicity and companionship that, since always, guided their life together: “We want it to be forever. That’s the idea, we want to fight. The relationship has the DRs, it has the problems, everyone does. There’s that thing where you disagree with each other, but love has to overcome all that. You want, every day, every difficulty, you want it to work. And that we have a lot in common ”, he finishes him off.
