The love story of Emily Blunt and John Krasinski proves that there is reason in the things done by the heart

You know that song Eduardo and Monica? It tells the story of two totally unknown and different people who one day meet, like each other and start dating. A story so cute that it could only exist in fiction. Except for the story of the actor couple Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, who could be “Eduardo and Monica” in real life. They met completely by chance, she all beautiful and perfect, he all clumsy. It could be a romantic comedy, but it’s a true story.

Therefore, we from awesome.club, we will tell in detail how John and Emily met and became a couple that remains visibly in love, until the present day, making us believe that love waits as long as it takes to happen. Check it out!

1. John Krasinski had few high-profile roles until he broke out as Jim Halpert in the American series The Office

“Eduardo opened his eyes…”, or rather, John Krasinski was born in 1979 in Boston, United States. The surname comes from his father, who is of Polish origin. In fact, he is a mixture of Poles with Americans and Irish. John started his acting career in his early twenties, with small roles in some movies and television series and also with some voice acting.

The turning point of John’s career was when he was cast in 2005 in the American version of the series The Office, which is originally British. John landed one of the lead roles, as Jim Halpert, an extremely fun, charismatic employee and in love with his secretary, Pam Beesly. Until then, he was practically unknown, but he won the audience through his performance in this series. Another prominent role was as Sir Lancelot in Shrek the Third in 2007.

2. Emily Blunt was an award-winning and recognized actress in England from her first role to The Devil Wears Prada

Like the Monica in the song, Emily Blunt was on the other side of town, or rather the world. She was born in 1983 in London, England, and has already made her debut as a stage actress in a big way, opposite the highly respected Judi Dench and won an award for Best New Actress that year. Her recognition earned her a number of other British theater and TV roles.

Of course, it didn’t take long for her to migrate to cinema. In 2004, in one of her first films, Meu Amor de Verão, she already attracted attention by showing her musical skills playing the cello. But she really became known to the general public in 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada, in which she plays Emily Charlton, Miranda’s assistant. It is also worth noting that she started a relationship with singer Michael Bublé in 2005, but they broke up three years later.

3. When telling how they met, Emily doesn’t immediately admit that she fell in love with John

If we were in the song Eduardo and Mônica, this would be the part of the “strange party with weird people”. It was November 2008 and Emily was at a restaurant in Los Angeles with a friend, talking about the end of her relationship with Michael Bublé. Then that friend points away and says, “Oh my God, it’s my friend John.” He was sitting with a mutual friend, Justin Theroux. To Emily, John was “vaguely recognizable”, even though he was famous for The Office.

So John just dumped Justin and joined Emily and Gray at the table for the rest of the night. “He didn’t eat anything. He just stood there and made me laugh,” Emily told the Seth Meyers talk show. Seth asked Emily if she knew at the time that she was in love and she replied “sort of yes”.

4. On the other hand, John knew exactly who Emily was and admitted he had been “chasing” the actress for a while

If John was “vaguely recognizable” to Emily, she was the opposite to John. In fact, years later, he even jokingly admitted that he was already a “stalker” for the actress since she watched The Devil Wears Prada. In fact, he claims to have watched this movie at least 75 times. So when he got up to change tables two years later, Emily’s face was more than recognizable to him.

On the Ellen DeGeneres show, the actor told his version of that night in Los Angeles. He said he wasn’t looking for a relationship but as he walked towards Emily he thought “I think I’m going to fall in love with her”. And as she shook her hand, instead of shaking her hand, he blurted out, “I like you!” Like Seth, Ellen also asked if John knew he was in love the moment he met Emily and he replied “Yes!” without even thinking.

5. “It was a very precious moment” – quickly the couple wanted to repeat the dose and have a first date for real

Still in 2008, John and Emily had their first date. To The Hollywood Reporter, they disagreed on who invited whom first. Emily said, “It was probably me, I think,” but John replied wryly, “Yeah, that’s right.” They argued and John said he was the one who called her sometimes and she never accepted.

Anyway, that first date was at John’s apartment and they had pizza. Something happened that night, but they prefer to keep that part to themselves. “It’s too precious,” Emily justified, “I don’t want to talk about it.” But we’re sure it was very romantic, especially considering what happened next.

6. “Being able to laugh with someone is one of the best feelings” — John has found his life partner

As in a movie, the months passed very quickly, and less than a year after they met, Emily and John became engaged. During this period, they didn’t make much of a fuss about dating, went to award shows separately and had discreet dates. The engagement was also kept private and, according to John, was very casual and emotional. “There were unicorns, oceans, clouds and she said ‘yes,’” John joked. “She cried, then I cried, then everyone around us cried.”

The engagement took place in mid-August 2009, and in July of the following year, John and Emily were married, he was 30 and she was 27. The ceremony took place in Italy, in a house loaned by George Clooney in Lake Como. John said that George offered the house three times, but he declined thinking it was a joke. Only the fourth time, the interpreter of The Office realized that the friend was serious and was starting to get hurt by the refusals, so he accepted.

A few months later, they made their first married appearance at the 2010 Emmy Awards, and posed together for photos on the red carpet. After the awards, at a party promoted by the channel AMC, the lovebirds posed for a photo with comedian Amy Poehler and Ed Helms, one of John’s colleagues in the cast of The Office.

7. “Meeting John really changed my life” — the family grew in just a few years

After going from the girl talking about the breakup in a restaurant to the wife of one of the most beautiful men in the world, according to People magazine, Emily Blunt confessed in an interview how good this change was for her. “Meeting John really changed my life,” she said. “When I realize the support he gives me, I feel invincible. I have someone behind me on good days, and in front of me on bad days. Plus, he makes dinner reservations!”

The couple’s first child, Hazel Grace, arrived in February 2014. John made a point of announce the birth via Twitter, and confessed that they were both incredibly happy about the birth. Two years later, during the 4th of July celebration in the United States, he celebrated the birth of the fourth member of the family, Violet, who had arrived two weeks earlier. Below, we have photos of the eldest, Hazel, in two super cute moments, and of Violet still “in the oven”.

John, as a father, did not fail to melt for his wife: “She is the best mother in the world”. She adds: “I wake up every morning with a smile on my face, looking forward to the next wonderful time she will have with the kids.”

8. “The atmosphere changes when she starts doing what she does” — the partnership that went to the screen in A Quiet Place

In 2017, John Krasinski proudly announced via Instagram that he would work with Emily on the film A Quiet Place, in which he directs and stars. In the film, their characters are also married. John was full of praise for his wife as a professional: “The atmosphere changes when she starts doing what she does. It’s so honest, so pure and powerful. It’s like a superpower.” John even said that he forgot he was her husband and just watched Emily perform, being lucky to be in the front row.

And well, the actor wasn’t exaggerating. For her work, Emily won the Best Supporting Actress category at the SAG Awards. In her acceptance speech, she thanked her husband: “I want to share this award with my husband, John Krasinski, because the whole experience of doing this with you has touched my heart.” And she added in a joking tone: “Thank you for giving me this role. You would have been in trouble if you hadn’t.” He, in turn, honestly happy and moved, gave a standing ovation.

John, however, explained that one of the secrets to a successful marriage is not talking about fame. He was well aware of how famous she was and how it could hurt her if she didn’t know how to manage. He added: “I remember saying, ‘I wanted to have a talk with you. I think you are one of the best atri…’ She didn’t let me finish the sentence and said ‘No, no, no!’ really loud. We never had a conversation like that again. It probably saved our relationship.”

9. The couple’s fans want to see more John and Emily together on the big screen and they already know which movie

Initially reluctant, the couple decided to repeat the partnership in the sequel A Quiet Place: Part II in 2020, again directed by John Krasinski. They also worked together dubbing the animation É o Bicho!, in which they play the clown couple Owen and his wife Zoe. The animation story takes place in the 60s and follows a circus troupe.

But the couple’s fans already dream of a new job and imagine them in a very specific production. These are the Marvel characters Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman, married and leaders of the Fantastic Four hero group. John seems to enjoy the idea: “If you’re considering me as Mr. Fantastic, keep it up, because I would love to play him.” Emily, on the other hand, is not very in favor of playing a heroine in the movies: “I don’t know if superhero movies are my thing”.

Together on the screens or not, “who will ever say that there is no reason in the things done by the heart?” There’s another love story from the celebrity world…
