The Lidl soap that removes all traces of grease and sauce from our tupperware and leaves them like new

Often, especially when we have dinner guests, we tend to over-prepare, cooking for an army in fear that the food will not be enough. Sometimes it is an unfounded concern, but we want to make a good impression and we think that exaggerating will save us from unforeseen events. Only at the end of the meal do we realize how much food is left over, so we resort to the useful plastic containers with lids so as not to waste it.

This way we can also decide whether to freeze them or simply keep them in the refrigerator to use them in the coming days. It can also happen that we carry them in our bag to make a quick meal at work, and then leave them dirty until we get home.

Eliminate bad odors

However, what is very common is not being able to leave these practical food containers looking like new. The porous material inevitably absorbs the residue from each plate, making it difficult to clean. Most of the time we give up and just clean them without dwelling on the stain, satisfied with the poor result. However, it only takes a few minutes to remove greasy or dark marks from the inner surface of the plastic. In addition, they can retain an unpleasant odor that will be difficult to disappear.

In this case, instead of throwing everything away, we can eliminate the smell with a little lemon and orange peel. You just have to fill the container with water, add the peel and close the lid, and after 30 minutes we can rinse.

As for stains, two simple ingredients are enough to clean the containers and remove grease and food remains. If the stain is especially insidious, we could first perform a kind of pre-wash. That is, we use a few drops of the classic dish detergent and fill the container with water, letting it act for about ten minutes.

Salt is an extraordinary ally for home cleaning, it has a degreasing power and acts effectively on dirt, also lightening the stain. Marseille soap is another very useful ingredient in the home, perfect for leaving floors shiny and scented and for washing clothes.

To remove remains from the inside of the containers, immerse them in a container with hot water and pour 2 tablespoons of salt and 2 tablespoons of soap. Wait for the two elements to work thoroughly and, after about 30 minutes, use a sponge to rub vigorously and then rinse.

The same procedure could also be used for glass canning jars or for washing bottles that previously contained oil or sauce.

Marseille soap is a product that you can easily find in the cleaning section of Lidl.
