The Brazilian who decided to create delicate works of art with a typewriter and has enchanted followers

Art is our escape point, but also our reunion. It is the possibility of rescuing memories and telling stories. It’s attitude and feeling. It was thus, somewhat by chance, that we came across the art of Brazilian Hal Wildson, a multiple artist who created a series of drawings using a typewriter and, in addition, he has also aroused emotions on Instagram by posting the works he creates using other techniques.

Born in Goiás, since he started posting his work on Instagram, Hal Wildson has already gathered more than 30,000 followers, but most importantly: he has been enthralling everyone with his art. For the awesome.club, he said that since he was a child he was already passionate about Literature and that he loved spending time between books and with his imagination. At the time, he thought that if he had a typewriter he could write his own stories, but he still didn’t have the financial conditions to do so.

Time passed and the young artist, who even studied Literature at the Federal University of Mato Grosso, realized that he could unite all the things he liked, creating a plural artistic language, with different creative expressions through techniques of collage, drawing, painting and embroidery.

With that, he matured his artistic work. Hence the need to create something unique and to mix concepts such as “memory, written history and social conscience”, leading to creation with the typewriter.

“My inspiration is in everything. For me, art is like poetry and does not depend on format or frame, poetry touches you for what it says, not for the paper you chose to write on”, says Hal Wildson.

Creating a work using the typewriter technique can take 2 days or even 3 months, depending on the size and difficulty of the project, as some works can reach millions of letters, as Wildson told us.

The machine has 3 colors: black, red and brown (the latter when the artist mixes the first two), from which he can shape the projects. He even confided to us that the stronger the letter hit the paper, the greater the brand and color will be. When the touch is lighter, the mark is almost imperceptible.

As we mentioned at the beginning of the post, the artist uses a series of techniques, with collage and embroidery being some of the highlights of his artistic workshops.
