On the radio and at parties, they always played their songs — the hits of the moment — that we wanted to hear all the time. But the 1990s ended and many of the Mexican artists we loved listening to left the stage. However, lucky for us, some remained active.

Kabah emerged in 1992 and quickly became one of the most important pop music groups in Mexico. The members’ eclectic style and personalities appealed to the vast majority of teenagers at that time. During the most successful years of their music production, they released hits such as: lives🇧🇷 to pass and may may🇧🇷 but arguably the most popular was La calle de las sirenas. The group Kabah, after a break, returned to the stage in 2014, and continues to perform alongside their contemporaries OV7.

The OV7 group, as it is known today, was called “La Onda Vaselina”. This group emerged in 1989 and consisted of 12 children, between 8 and 12 years old. At first, they only sang versions of popular songs from the 1950s and 1960s. In the 1990s, and with the members already at a more mature age, they released hits like Mírame a los ojos, Un pie tras otro pie, Te quiero so much, Tanto y tus besos and the famous Fly higher, that played everywhere. In 2000, they also had songs at the top of the charts on radio stations, such as I go crazy and shabadabada🇧🇷 But, in 2003, the group decided to disband to make way for individual projects. However, the members reunited in 2010 to tour their greatest hits. OV7 is still active and playing shows with other successful groups from the 1990s.

With their songs reproduced in bars, karaoke bars and even nightclubs, Maná was one of the most famous Mexican pop rock bands of the 1990s. raying the sun, the group became a musical phenomenon. Although their last album was recorded in 2015, the band is still active – playing shows and touring – even if their songs are not as “addictive” as they used to be.

Fey was a phenomenon of 1990s Mexican pop music, mainly because of his connection with the female audience. Café Tacvba is one of the most important rock bands in Mexico. It was born in 1989, but because it is a multicultural and innovative band, its national and international success only started in 1994. The music ungrateful was heard everywhere despite being somewhat controversial as it advocated the humiliation of a woman who despised her partner. In 2020, the band is still active and because of its social principles, it has modified the lyrics so as not to remain sexist.

Irán Castillo debuted as an actress in 1989; however, her musical career only took off in 1997, when all of Mexico heard Yo por él. Although it was her only major success, the actress’ charisma led her to carry out important projects, such as the Latin dubbing of Jessie in toy story 2🇧🇷 Today, the 43-year-old actress continues to act in television, film and theater.

In 1994, a group of girls appeared who wanted to sing and be part of the pop musical phenomenon, which was already boiling in Mexico. They chose the name Jeans and its success pepe it was one of the most requested songs on the radio. But, after a constant replacement of the members, the popularity waned and, in 2008, the group disbanded. In 2015, the girls decided to reunite, changing their name to “JNS” and, since then, they have performed with other Mexican groups from the 1990s, such as OV7 and Kabah.

Caifanes is a Mexican rock band that was active from 1987 to 1995, returned in 2011 and remains to this day. For a while, the group stopped calling itself that and its lead singer, Saúl Hernández, formed another band called Jaguares. Thalía started her musical career in 1980, as the vocalist of a children’s group called Din-Din, and in 1986, she joined the famous musical group Timbiriche. But it was only in 1990 that she released her first solo album, at the same time that she started working in soap operas that brought her fame and recognition. As a singer, Thalía had many successes, such as Amarillo y azul, Piel morena and A pact between the twobut arguably his greatest success, even internationally, was Mexican love🇧🇷 Thalía remained active, even after the turn of the millennium, and today, at the age of 48, she still releases hits.

Alejandra Guzmán’s career began in 1988, with the hit The plague. Currently, Alejandra Guzmán continues to perform and tour at the age of 52.

Known for a while as “La banda Timbiriche” and then just as Timbiriche, it began in the 1980s and from it emerged many of the stars of the show business Mexican. In 2017, Timbiriche made a reunion tour, 35 years after its creation. Some of the members continued with their music careers.
