The 10 most powerful superheroes of all time, according to scientific studies

Superheroes are in fashion. We admire their skills, the way they face adversity and are victorious, protecting humanity from the villains’ sinister intentions, even if often at the cost of their own lives. This, of course, opened up many debates as interesting as they were curious, especially at the University of Leicester, where some students relied on scientific principles to test the feasibility of the powers behind the most famous superheroes in comics and movies, and carried out this study.

O awesome.club compiled this list of the ten most powerful superheroes, their strengths and weaknesses, and their best gear. You choose your favorite!

1. Flash

Also known as “The Flash”, it first appeared in Flash Comics #1 in January 1940, published by DC Comics. Although it has been embodied by various identities, all versions of Flash have super speed. This also involves a high ability to move and think extremely quickly, at the speed of light. His stamina is superhuman and allows him to travel abyssal distances.

Strong points: he is able to pass through solid matter, his reflexes are superhuman, and he can even defy the laws of physics because he exceeds the dimensions of space and time. Spots fracco: the personality of the first Flash was characterized by being quite absent-minded, which caused a lot of problems. He can’t fly, so all his battles must be land, and he can’t do much in icy or gravityless places, because he needs friction. Equipment: in his civilian identity, he carries a special ring in which he stores the compressed uniform.

2. Black Lightning

The first time Black Lightning, or Black Bolt, appeared in a Marvel comic book, Fantastic Four #45 it was in 1965. This superhero is an Inhuman (an isolated race of genetically modified superhumans) with extraordinary powers. In fact, its limits are not known. However, his center of power is his voice. If Black Bolt says a word, or even makes a sound, it causes a highly destructive shock wave that could wipe out planetary life. Because of this, he has trained a lot to control his vocal cords, even when he sleeps.

Strong points: super strength, stamina, durability, superhuman senses and reflexes. In the center of his brain he produces an unknown particle that causes an uncontrollable change that produces his “sonic scream”. It can fly at speeds of up to 500 kilometers per hour, manipulate energy and electrons. It is able to resist physical and telepathic attacks. Weaknesses: his powers largely depend on the antenna he carries on his forehead, so if it is destroyed so are his powers. Black Bolt doesn’t always control his emotions. It can also be affected by your own voice. Equipment: in addition to the uniform that allows him to focus all of his powers, Black Bolt carries an antenna on his forehead that helps him stay in tune with electrons.

3. Iron Man

Famous millionaire Tony Stark made an appearance as Iron Man in Tales of Suspense #39, in 1963, and had his first individual comic in 1968, published by Marvel. His uniform is practically his superpower, because with it he can do anything he wants. However, his superintelligence is largely responsible for bringing his technology to life.

Strong points: superior intelligence, armor with stamina, speed, super strength and satellite control capabilities. In addition, he added “extremis”, a substance that adds other superhuman powers to his armor. Weaknesses: if Tony Stark takes the reactor out of his chest, it visibly weakens, putting his life at risk. Equipment: perhaps the best equipped superhero in all of Marvel. His armor is a mechanical exoskeleton that practically “sticks” to Tony’s flesh and allows him to be a cohesive action-reaction unit. Armor can be adapted according to battle or mission conditions.

4. Thor

Thor is the Asgardian warrior prince, son of the god Odin, and his first appearance as a Marvel comic was in 1962. His life spans thousands of years (he maintains a diet of golden apples to prolong his immortality) and his power lies in the strength of his hammer, for he is the Norse god of thunder. This gives him the power to summon the elements of the storm (in all its variants).

Strong points: It is very resistant to physical injury, almost invulnerable. As he is not human, he has divine faculties such as time travel, crossing portals, superhuman speed, immunity to disease, healing his body’s wounds, and controlling the weather. Weaknesses: if he drops his hammer for more than 60 seconds, he can lose his god status and become a simple human. Equipment: Thor possesses the hammer Mjolnir, the sword, the ax and the apple. He also wears a belt that doubles his strength and stamina.

5. Captain Marvel

Better known as Carol Danvers, she is the most powerful superhero in the world of Marvel. His comic book, the Ms. marvel #1, was published in 1977. She was originally human, but her powers were acquired after her DNA merged with that of Mar-Vell, her fellow superhero of Kree origin, during an explosion. Among them are super strength and endurance, but above all, the power to absorb energy and convert it into thermal energy. She is versatile and invulnerable, can withstand any weapon attack. She is even able to bend magnetic fields. And if that wasn’t enough, she can alter reality at her whim.

Among them, faithful obedience to the so-called Supreme Intelligence, a living computer that dominates the Kree.

Equipment: his only equipment is his uniform, which allows him to make use of his superpowers without restrictions.

6. Hulk

Apparently, nothing had happened to him, but that same night he transformed into “The Hulk”, a humanoid of monstrous proportions, a green giant. However, this also gave him unlimited physical strength, durability, stamina, and self-regeneration.

Strong points: the Hulk’s power lies in stress or anger. The more he exposes himself to a dangerous situation, the stronger he gets. He can resist any type of attack, even psychic. It easily adapts to hostile environments. He has an almost immortal quality, because his body can regenerate extremely fast, giving him an extended lifespan. Weaknesses: the biggest weakness is when he finds himself as Dr. Banner, as if attacked and unable to transform into Hulk, he can die instantly. Equipment: it has nothing but its supreme physical power.

7. Shazam

Shazam was published in 1949 by Fawcett Comics, but the rights to the character were purchased in 1972 by DC Comics. O alter ego of Shazam is a boy named Billy Batson, an orphan whom a powerful mage endowed with extraordinary abilities and bestowed on the shelter of the Rock of Eternity (a magical place between space and time). Every time Billy says “Shazam!” he becomes the mighty hero. In fact, his name is an acrostic that refers to six wise and virtuous men: S for Solomon, H for Hercules, A for Atlas, Z for Zeus, A for Achilles and M for Mercury.

Strong points: possesses the best qualities of the sages, as well as clairvoyance, superhuman knowledge, hypnosis, being omnilingual, eternal youth, super strength, controlled basic needs, the ability to travel through time, stamina, perform spells and magical powers, cast lightning, heal fast and immortality. Weaknesses: it would be hard to think of a weakness for such a hero, but his Achilles heel is right in his alter ego Billy, who is generally immature, irresponsible and commits a lot of arbitrariness by abusing his double identity. Equipment: the so-called Rock of Eternity is part of it and vice versa. He also has a “magical cloak” from which he obtains his powers. He usually uses a device that allows him to see the past, present and future. And similarly, he wears a bracelet that contains his powers, and if he doesn’t wear it for 24 hours, he dies.
