Stories of unknown people that reinforce our faith in humanity

Travelers, passers-by, colleagues on the elevator, on the plane and in queues at the supermarket: every day we meet hundreds of strangers and often we remember some of them forever. Users of the social network Reddit shared some memories of the most unusual encounters that did not leave them indifferent.

O awesome.club read many touching stories about people who returned wallets to strangers, said nice words just because the heart said, or did some kind of surprise to the first person who passed in front of them. Check it out right now and let yourself get a little emotional.

I was at a bar with my girlfriend. Next to us was an older gentleman; he was alone and looked unhappy. Some time later, he tapped my girlfriend on the shoulder and said, “I like the way you guys talk. Here’s what I’ll do… I spent a fortune on these tickets for my wife. Unfortunately, she can’t walk and I don’t want to go without her. So I want you to accept it. The only problem is that the show starts in 20 minutes.” He did not go into further detail, nor did he accept money. He just asked that we go, that we have fun, and that we continue to be nice to each other. He paid the bill and left. And that’s how I got front row tickets to the Prince concert. @DukeOfCheddar

The Paris metro is not adapted for wheelchairs. Once, we got stuck because the available station was closed and we had to go to another one. Two men approached, lifted my mother-in-law in the wheelchair, passed her over the turnstile and took her to the platform. They did this very quickly and didn’t accept any input, just a ‘thank you’. And I don’t think they even knew each other. @LowerSeaworthiness

I’m a single parent. I’m raising a nine-year-old and I’m always questioning my parenting skills. Last night I said, “No books or cell phones while we have dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant.” We talk about different things, about your tastes. I didn’t know if the people at the next table could hear us, but when we were about to leave, a man in his 50s said to us, “Dad, you’re doing great.” I don’t know what made him do it, but it was very nice to hear someone say those words. @derickkcired

One night I found a kitten about four weeks old who was sick in the parking lot. I took him to the vet because I had no idea what to do. He had just graduated from university and had no money or work. When I went to pay the bill with my credit card (I think it was between $200 and $300), the woman told me that the couple I had talked to in the waiting room had paid for me. The kitten grew into a chubby, happy cat. @silkspiders

I was walking home from university (my apartment was nearby) and it started to rain. A woman drove past me. She opened the window and gave me an umbrella. I live 2,000 km from my family and in this act of kindness I felt again that someone was taking care of me. @tmtscz

A guy on the subway helped me with my math homework. During the trip, he taught me how to solve quadratic equations. He is a good boy. @DEFEZMAN

My boyfriend and I recently moved because the landlord of our old apartment sold and evicted us. We found another place quickly, but we didn’t have a car to take our stuff. Therefore, the change took about 30 days, always from 10 pm until 2 am, every day. After studying and working, we packed two to four boxes each. Then we put our books in our backpacks. We would run to the train station and get into the carriage, apologizing for the lack of space. I have never seen such kindness as I did in that month. People held the doors when we arrived at the last minute. They helped us load and unload the boxes, and they even put our DVDs together when a box got ripped. In addition, everyone left an extra space for us. It was a difficult month, but we had a lot of fun! @Deltaas

I used to work as a messenger in a law firm. I once had to deliver several boxes of documents. I went with a trolley loaded with important documents and decided to jump up onto the sidewalk (Chicago sidewalks are about 15-20 cm high). As a result, the cart overturned and the boxes fell out. Papers scattered across the floor. For the next two minutes, I felt like I was on a television show. People rushed to help me. A messenger passing by on a bicycle stopped and ran after documents that were flying. I think I looked lost, but I will never forget that day. @IDCimSTRONGERtnUinRL

I was drowning in a river. An older woman pulled me out of the water and took me to her house. She gave me a towel to dry off and something to eat. Afterwards, her son (or grandson?) took me home. It was eight hours there and eight hours back. And sometimes we wonder if there are good people in this world @Drone6040

Four years ago, when I was a first-year student, together with other students we spent the night at the university. A classmate sat across from me and we studied in silence all night. At about 2:00 in the morning, I flipped over the table. When I woke up, I saw that the girl was gone. But in my notebook there was a note: “Good luck on the tests! You’re doing fine.” I still have the ticket. @theianwoo

It happened two days ago. A little snow had fallen and I tried to clear the path in front of my door. Turns out I have arthritis. It’s not so terrible, but sometimes, especially when I need to shovel snow, it takes me longer than other people. I had just started work when I saw a car pull up. A man and a woman came out, grabbed two shovels and started helping me clear the path. What I would have done in over an hour they did in just 10 minutes. @FluffyBunniesAreCute

An unknown Asian lady stopped me on the street when I was going to a job interview and straightened my tie. I was never taught how to tie a knot or how to wear a suit. The interview was very important. More or less a year has passed, I have work and I’m doing very well. I would love to be able to meet this woman to thank her. Maybe my tie wasn’t so bad, but I was very anxious and she told me everything was going to be all right. @MaestroManiac
