Although it is possible to find, within the same country, more than one type of uniform, its use turns out to reveal interesting cultural aspects and shows that the clothing worn by students is also an important mark of the traditions and history of a given nation.

1. India
The boys’ uniform includes a light-colored long-sleeved shirt and long, dark pants; the girls’ version consists of a light shirt and a long, high-waisted skirt for cold days and a short one for hot days. In some schools, all young people also have to wear the same shoes.
2. Haiti
Most educational institutions in the country belong to the private sector. Uniforms in Haiti are brightly colored and include a short-sleeved shirt and short overalls for boys; the girls wear colorful hair accessories and overalls with a short skirt.
3. Iran
Children start attending school at age 7. If they want, they can go to kindergarten or start school a year earlier. For girls it is mandatory to cover arms and legs and use the hijab. Boys also wear long pants and shirts that cover the entire arm, down to the wrists.
4. Turkey

6. Thailand
The use of uniform in schools in Thailand is mandatory. During the early years, boys’ pants may be khaki, black, or a shade of navy blue. They also wear a white short-sleeved shirt, ankle socks and black or coffee shoes. The girls, on the other hand, wear loose-fitting shirts with a bow in the front and a skirt that reaches the calves. In addition, the students’ names are embroidered on the shirt.
7. Indonesia
In all schools in the country, the use of a uniform is mandatory. The pattern that we see in the photo is quite traditional, but it can vary depending on the school year the student is in. During primary education, there is a predominance of red in skirts and pants; in the first years of elementary school, the color used is navy blue and, in later years, the student either continues to wear navy blue or can wear a uniform in a dark gray tone.
8. Bhutan

10. Nepal
Both in public and private schools, it is mandatory to wear a uniform, and it is the school that decides the color. Generally, boys and girls wear a white shirt, a small tie, a sweater or a suit. Boys can wear a long-sleeved shirt.
