Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair show that the love between friends has no limits

In the midst of so much fame, glamour, amazing stories and iconic personalities, in Hollywood it can be really difficult to build something that money can’t buy: long and true friendships. But calm down, because there are successful stories like that of actresses Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair. A friendship that arose because of a joint work for the cinema and that lasts until today. It’s been over 20 years now. How cool, right?

Unlike their characters in Cruel Intentions, a 90s teen classic, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair are real friends. Sarah says she “fell in love with Selma as soon as she walked into the audition” as Cecile, Kathryn’s romantic rival in the film. “From the day I met Selma at that audition, it’s like something clicked with us.”

The atmosphere between the two was very light on the set of filming and it showed in the film. The chemistry between the duo was highly praised by the public and even earned them the MTV award for Best Kiss.

After the film, they kept in touch and strengthened their friendship. “Oh my God, Sarah is my everything. I have no words to say how much I love this woman”, said Selma, in an interview. While Sarah added that her friend has been there for “every important moment on her journey” and can’t imagine her life without her. “Nobody makes me laugh, and nobody knows how to put me in my shoes faster than Selma.”

In 2018, Selma revealed that she had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, a chronic neurological disease of progressive and disabling evolution that affects the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord).

Sarah didn’t sit still and has been lovingly supporting and pampering her bestie ever since. According to Selma, Sarah was with her every step of the way during the treatment process—even putting her to bed and buying her dinner.

Always very attentive, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress began to realize Selma’s difficulty in doing basic everyday tasks, such as cooking and shopping, and decided to organize a way for her friend and her son to receive meals already ready. “What I’ve learned is that no gesture is small,” she wrote.

Also when Selma attended the Oscars in 2019 and spoke, for the first time, publicly since her diagnosis, the blonde muse, once again, revealed to the world how proud she was of her best friend. “To say I am proud would be a gross understatement. When I have a cold, I want to hide from the world under my covers. But not Selma. She is facing this diagnosis, the way she faces everything, with dignity, grace and head-on.”

Often, a soulmate doesn’t just refer to a love relationship, it can also be your best friend. Sarah Gellar and Selma Blair’s friendship proves that a strong and true connection is possible if both parties do and offer their best.

After so many years of achieving victories in their professional lives, the two also take time to have fun together. For example, in 2019 the longtime best friends recreated photos from a previous trip they took to Disney — 21 years earlier! The two recorded every moment and shared it on social media with fans.
